I'm an incoming high school sophomore. My freshman year I took Pre-ap (English and world history), honors (physics and algebra 2), and French 1, video production, and jrotc. I passed all those classes with an A or A- final grade. This year I'm taking Ap World history, Pre-Ap (Biology, biology lab, Pre-calculus, english, and u.s. history) and French 2 honors. I plan on getting straight A's mostly A+'s. I play football and volleyball (I don't see myself in a leadership position in sports, such as captain). I was class president freshman year and hope to be class president this year and the next few years. I will join ki club, honor society and math honor society next year. I want to know what I could do to make sure i stand out during admissions and have a high a chance to get in. What ec's should i do and what else can i do to get in? All tips are welcome.

Keep an open mind and don’t focus on a single school. You’d be foolish to think that there is some magic formula to get into H or its peers. Like most kids at your stage, you’re likely attracted to the H reputation versus being able to list even 3-4 substantial ways that H would be a good fit for you versus the school down the road. Don’t get caught in that trap

Same advice I give anybody who asks: [Applying Sideways | MIT Admissions](Applying Sideways | MIT Admissions). Just, where it says “MIT,” pretend it says “Harvard.”
