What American accent do you have?

Gangster/Deep Southern.

It’s hilarious.

North Central… my family is Canadian :D

I got 92% Western, 88% North Central, and 85% Midland. Western is a neutral accent, so I’d say it’s pretty accurate.

I got Northern and I live in California.

Mine’s midland. It makes sense because I’m from a part of the country that produces a lot of newscasters because we have such neutral accents.

Northeastern for me. I live in New York, Long Island to be exact, so I’m not very surprised.

None discernable to me. Probably northern californian though.

Midland and Southern, not very suprised since those are the only 2 places i’ve ever lived lol

long island accent…every time i leave ny people notice/comment it lol

@RoseOak Maybe the British living in the US, but I’ve read quite a few books on the development on spoken English and they’ve all looked at the influences that changed American speech, I don’t think they were very similar. It’s hard to know for sure, because past voice recording (about 100 years ago?) I guess we only have people’s comments on accents

I have a very traditional, posh, South Eastern (British oc) accent. Not queen’s/old BBC English as such, more like this guy: [TWILIGHT FORCED UPON ME - YouTube](<a href=“TWILIGHT FORCED UPON ME - YouTube”>TWILIGHT FORCED UPON ME - YouTube)

I got a 100% mid-Atlantic haha. I figured it would be a mix of different accents, but it says I do have the Philly/Baltimore accent.

Minnesotan, which makes some sense considering I live in Minnesota.

Midland. I’m from South Florida, and yeah, everyone here is pretty neutral, if not Hispanic or Caribbean. Northern Florida has some Southern accents though.

latin/spanish

I got Mid-Atlantic with Midland as a close second. Very accurate as I’m thoroughly in the Baltimore-Philly-S.NJ region BUT I’m more neutral than anything else. I am kinda surprised that it describes it as a “Philly” accent because to me, that says “vurry” for “very” (see: Harry Kalas or Merrill Reese).

@shabang and tennis625 oh yay 2 others on this forum from lawn guyland!! XD

Mid-Atlantic / Philadelphia. Yep.

Midland - NY’er here

It doesn’t work for me…I have an odd accent that doesn’t fit into the categories…Slight Southern twinge to it but not full blown…Though I can slip into a full blown Southern accent if I’m talking for extended periods of time and say a trigger word…

It told me Midlands but my friend has a Midlands accent and she says I have a Southern twinge to my voice that makes it a decidedly different accent from hers…

^^^^^^^Both my grandparents, who are from Miami in the very early days (born in early 30s) have strong southern accents. No idea why.

I’m from South Florida and I got Midland.
