I'm going on my first few tomorrow and am not really sure what to expect... I think they're student-led, and all run ~1 hr. Do they just basically walk you around the campus and talk about points of interest? I ask because I don't figure I'll be asking a lot of questions and really just want to see the campus so I'm hoping it won't be awkward. It's school vacation week up here in MA, too, so I figure there will be decent-sized groups at the Maine schools (Bowdoin, Bates, and Colby)... Any input?

At tours, students lead you around so you can see the campus and they talk about different departments (a little; it depends on how well they know the department) and what classes are like and things like this.

The most useful thing from tours, though, that I gleaned, is that they tell you sort of anecdote-type things about traditions and dorm rooms and social life and different groups--basically, the student's perspective, as opposed to the admissions office's perspective.

I highly recommend going to the info sessions as well, because they are not all that long, and you learn some new things, although for me the tours are more interesting. If you want to go to an info session, some colleges require you to call ahead and make an appointment.

Thank you... That's pretty much what I expected and it should be a good look at the campus at least physically... I'm not expected to speak or anything, I hope! =P

Haha, no, you don't have to speak. :P On my tours, solicited student input has been limited to raising of hands, such as "How many of you have heard of Dance Dance Revolution?"

(Although obviously questions are welcome, and encouraged.)

Okay, thank you very much for the reassurance! Haha, I'm pathetic...
