What are good schools that also have good writing programs?

I'm probably going to be my class valedictorian, I have a lot of extracurriculars, and my test scores are good, so I obviously have a lot of options for where I can go to college. I've been considering a lot of Ivy's, but I don't want to limit myself to just those schools. In reality, I don't care whether or not a school is an Ivy, as long as I know it has a good academic program.

I would like to be some type of writer one day, so I was wondering what colleges are best for that career path.

Thanks!

Off the top of my head, NYU, Oberlin, Iowa, Wells, and Johns Hopkins, plus some sisters to the Ivy League like Barnard and Sarah Lawrence.

What exactly do you consider a “good school”? For many writing careers the prestige of an alma mater means squat, so there are a lot more options for writers than for people preparing for careers like law or business.

Middlebury is a great school for writing.

If you want to write scripts for TV shows, go to NYU. Princeton is great for finding your center as a writer, so you can sustain a career in it.

Kenyon has long been known as a great school for writers.
