what are my chances? any advice?

Background -
I’m from Illinois. I’ve gone to private schools for my whole life. My high school is Jesuit and somewhat selective. The grading scale is different than most schools: A: 100-93, B: 92-85, C: 84-77, etc. so the C’s I’ve gotten are technically B’s at other schools.
I am undecided, but considering Law or Business as a major.

Opinions? Any universities that might offer money?

  • feel free to ask if you have any specific questions.

If you need money, take the UC’s off of your list.
The University of California system is publicly funded by the State of California and the taxpayers of the state. You would pay full fees to attend a public school: $62K per year.

USC would offer some monies.

okay thank you!

You cannot major in law as an undergraduate, you need to earn a bachelor’s degree first. There is also no real “pre-law” major.

I’d advise you get some tutoring in math. If you bring up that section some schools will Super Score you into a really great score. Just got my daughter some tutoring that brought her math from a 28 to a 32 (only 10 hours of tutoring). That raised her Super Score from a 34 to 35. You could bring your Super Score up to a 34 on the ACT by raising your math by 8 points. That will greatly increase your options. You can do it!

What is your family income? Have you checked the NPCs of these schools?
You need to calculate your uwGPA from your letter grades of each class. Since 85-92 is B at your school, your GPA of 93.78 ma contain some Bs in it. For UMich, you can calculate your GPA without subgrades (+ or -). If want to major in business, you would be applying to Ross at UMich which is super competitive. Your current test score is below admission average at UMich. If your family income is above $90k, your need will not be met. The CoA at UMich is $62k-$65k per year. It is a mid reach for your anyway.

@LookAtMyShoes Thank you! Congratulations to your daughter!
