Daughter accepted to Stanford. She has a 2350 SAT & 36 ACT, 4.9 wgpa, 4.0 gpa. Many EC’s and awards. Met with the admit officer and the Dean of Admissions yesterday for the Los Angeles meet and greet for accepted students and parents. Her stats are a little higher then the average applicant for Stanford but not exceptional. Admit officer says she really fought for my D to be accepted because of her essay and the Dean of Admissions agreed. She is a great writer and had fun with the essays. Was really honest and creative in expressing herself. Stanford is looking for the really smart and genuinely positive people. Whatever you do don’t try to impress the admit officers, express to them the unique person you are and why you can make a difference in the world…they can read through the BS. Many of the admit officers are former Stanford graduates and know what they are doing. Even with your best effort it will still be a long shot. We expected that D would get rejected because a lot of applicants with her stats get rejected from Stanford but sometimes dream do come true. Good luck.
