Extracurricular Activities (these are why I am even thinking of applying to these top schools. I know my gpa is far below the avg. and my SAT score is typical. My counselors recommended that I apply to these schools after looking over my ecs.)

1.) Two National Level Awards in Dance from a National Organization. Competed against contestants from all over the US and came first place both times, consecutively. (2012 and 2013).
I performed an Indian classical dance in 2012 and a modern hip-hop dance in 2013. I'm very passionate about dance, I've been dancing for about 10 years now.

2.) Raised $23,543.00 for a free cancer detection camp in India. This camp finds individuals in poor cities or villages in India who exhibit symptoms and run free tests on them. If the tests prove positive, then the individual is sent to nearby hospitals to be treated free of charge. I raised this much for a different national level organization. I performed various dance pieces and asked if the audience would donate. Over the course of 18 weeks, I raised the amount aforementioned.

3.) Wrote 90 children's books for hospitalized children at a nearby children's hospital. I wrote, illustrated, printed, and distributed these books. I acquired the required donations to print from a child's rehab center.

4.) I created a dance group with 10 adorable 5-year-old dancers. I organize and prepare them for frequent performances at conventions and events. Their most recent was at a cultural convention, in which the performed an Indian pop piece.

5.) I'm in Boy Scouts, nearing eagle. I created an online registration system unique to our troop which allows scouts to register for outings and service projects.

6.) I research alongside a pharmacist. I performed pharmaceutical experiments on drug-drug interactions.

7.) I'm on NHS board. As a cabinet member, I improved communications within the club by developing a database system that sends messages to all 300 members via smartphone.

8.) I'm an ASB ( Student Government) Leader. Elected Secretary for Junior Class last year, Elected Secretary for Senior Class this year. I take minutes on all meetings and activities. I helped organize our homecoming parade, homecoming ceremony, harvest festival, PROM dance, Game-Show Assembly, Holiday Assembly, Winter Whirl dance, Sadies dance, and Senior awards assembly.

9.) Varsity Tennis Captain.

10.) Black Belt in Karate.

11.) Board member in Math Club. Learned basics of Number Theory, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, and Discrete Math.

I grew up in a really bad environment with constant emotional abuse, harassment and very limited support. My father isn't the kindest man, lets put it that way. My father usually has me do chores or tasks that take away from homework or study time, so it is very hard to study at home. He usually does not let me go out without him, so the library is out-of-the-question. The only times I have to really study is before school starts, in passing periods, lunch or, the one hour after school before he comes home from work. Most of my ecs are through high school because I would have never been exposed to them while being confined at home. My father is supportive of my dancing because he gets many praises for my success.

My essays are really passionate and show that I want to impact whatever school I want to go to and ultimately the world. I like to think of myself as an activist. I love to partake in things that can cause positive political or social shifts. I wish formalize a system which adopts dance as the medicine to cure medical problems like the Tswana Sans Trance dance. I raised that amount while debunking the idea that cancer is for the rich only. I wanted to raise awareness to demonstrate how devastating cancer is on small, predominantly poor, populations. I'm pretty compassionate; I like to do things for others. And, I have specific things about each of these colleges, aside from their prestige and wow-factor, that I like, so not wanting to go there for superficial reasons.

I do realize that my gpa is very low, but will my ecs compensate?
Also, should I include in the "additional comments" section an essay about my home-life and how it hindered my academic pursuits?

Thank you so very much for your reply.
