OP, there is University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and University of Wisconsin, Madison, so usually people write UW-Madison instead of just UWM. Also, when you google UWM, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee shows up instead of the flagship school, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Those explain why @DadTwoGirls was confused initially. In fact, I was confused which one you were referring to; however, I figured it’d be UW-Madison since UW-Milwaukee has an obscure CS program unlike UW-Wisconsin, which has a decent one.
There is only one MSOE, and that is of Milwaukee. But don’t consider that school as those in-state schools on your list are worth more than MSOE.
“I’ve talked to professors, my dad’s colleagues and they all say 1250 is not a bad score. I really don’t want to debate, but I feel you are just squashing me.”
OP, when you come to collegeconfidential and ask questions, you should expect to be judged. If people view one’s poor stats as excellent, then, although it may make one feel good, it is an ineffective evaluation . In fact, harsh critiques tend to be more accurate and usually give one motivation. Certainly, there is a barrier between critiquing and slamming harshly. However, I couldn’t find any comment in @RMNiMiTz that was going overboard. If you do not want to expect to be critiqued harshly or see any hurtful messages, then I think this is not a place for you, as there are also some people who give troll responses that are intended to make OP feel awful in addition to those who critique mercilessly.
“Also for my “hook” should I be dishonest about my income my parents make?”
Flat answer: never. In fact, you cannot be “dishonest” about the income because, when applying for financial aid through FAFSA, your parents have to submit their tax information to the school. If you get caught lying about parents’ income, you will be rescinded of your admission to the college (if found before entering) or get expelled (if found while attending).
Naviance is something (nearly) every school has to keep track of their students’ admission history. It is most accurate to compare yourself with those from your school using Naviance.
“how good are my “chances” are UIC/IIT/DePaul?”
Sorry, but I cannot chance you on these as I don’t know about 'em. I only chance people who plan to major in CS as well as plan to go to schools I have good knowledge of.
