Thank you for your patience if you are still reading. So basically, I wanted to know if this was a good resume to get into (according to preference) MIT, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, UW at St. Louis. I will probably do early decision for Cornell or Stanford depending on my skills. Also, how do I arrange my resume since its split into two very different sections from India and USA? How can I improve myself to get into these colleges? Thank you all in advance. I really appreciate it.

You can get into any one of these colleges, you have great scores and grades and amazing EC’s! Write your essay about the difficulties moving to america and you’re a shoe in. Good luck!

Chance back?

Can’t say anything until you have scores

it says college GPA? Does that mean you’re taking classes at a community college or a high school? Sorry not sure about that.
Retake the SAT and take the ACT and the SAT II’s and report your scores. Since you’re indian, you’re gonna need to score at least a 2250 on the SAT, 33-34 on the ACT and high 700’s on your SAT II’s. Also, don’t take Math I , it’s useless, colleges all want Math II. Just take Chem, Math II and Bio.
For you to get in top schools @girlapplicant1 is right, write about your transfer here and how you still succeeded despite the new environment and new culture that you weren’t familiar with before.

If you ED to Cornell you’ll have a much bigger chance than ED at Stanford.

is last year’s admission statistics. Cornell has nearly double its acceptance rate to people who apply ED, so if Cornell is your dream school, then apply there ED (unless you might not be able to pay).

You have extremely great chances. Especially with the soccer ECs plus good stat . That’s very impressive. Good luck bro

Thank you all for replying. I really appreciate it. @rdeng2614 i have a couple more questions for you. That is high school gpa and i will try my best to get above 2200 on my SATs. The thing is, i want to do premed. So i have heard ivy vs mit or ucb, mit grades harder and there is also inflation of grades in ivy.So now, stanford would be the only other option not ivy. For premed, for the ensurity of ivy league after mcat, do you think i should go to cornell? Or stanford? Would i be wasting my power of early decision on stanford? Or would early action be good enough? Please do suggest any other respectable colleges for premed i can possibly apply to… thank you very much

Premed I would think John Hopkins would be very good?

Your ECs are great, but without being in the top 5% or having over a 2200+ it’s still a bit of a longshot

Diligently prepare for the ACT examination and for the SAT I retest. A 2070 SAT I aggregate score is probably uncompetitive.

That SAT score is too low to be admitted to ANY of those colleges unless you are a recruited athlete or have some other amazing thing you can add to the university. Are you good enough to play soccer at any of those schools? Washington University in St. Louis, Johns Hopkins, and MIT are all Division III and easier to make the team. Contact the coaches and see if you are good enough to be recruited (if you think you are and want to play). It is a GREAT way to get yourself into a great school. Other than that, you really must get that SAT score up a lot…I would guess 200 points to even have a shot, and even then, it’s slim chances at those elite colleges.

Wouldn’t colleges think that writing an essay based on the difficulties faced as an immigrant be too “main-stream” for the matter ?? Not quite sure, I read it in a book somewhere…
Anyhow, Good-Luck man I’m sure you’ll make it into the Ivy Leagues.

My first thought when I read your stats was “Don’t write about your volunteer work in your essay.” Yes, your volunteer work is a GREAT hook, but PLEASE, so many kids write about volunteering in their essays that admissions committees get sick of it and it undermines what an amazing societal contribution it is by looking preachy. I’m no expert, but all the sources agree with me on this one: Talk about it on your activities resume and have one of your teacher recommendations write about it, but it speaks for itself; it does not need an essay.

I understand your service is very meaningful and not the typical “I went to the food bank once and saw a poor person and it changed my life and I don’t take things for granted anymore” didactic, but doing the Volunteer Essay is so hard to pull off right that it isn’t worth it.

You have the classic international student problem of less competitive English test scores compared to your otherwise very competitive stats. Don’t be overly worried about that (although do try to improve it) as colleges will know English is not your first language.

I am a bit confused at your decision to either ED at Cornell or SCEA to Stanford–those are very different things. First off, they’re different processes: Cornell is binding early decision, whereas Stanford is non-binding, but pulls the lame move of not letting you apply to any other American private universities simultaneously. As a veteran of SCEA deferral, I’ll tell you now SCEA can put you in a VERY uncomfortable position of having to apply everywhere regular if you hear bad news on December 15. Secondly, Cornell and Stanford are just very different ambiences.

That being said, here’s my outlook on your admissions chances:

MIT: 50%. There are a lot of other Asian applicants with comparable scores, especially international Indian students. I still think you are a strong candidate.

Cornell: 80%; I’d say higher if you apply early. Although nothing is ever certain in the college process, I think your admission to Cornell is very likely–they very much like service and STEM focus.

Johns Hopkins: 70%. I don’t think your passions quite match theirs, but you’re still a likely admit.

Stanford: 40%. You’d be competing with a LOT of international Asian applicants. Early round I’d bump that up to 45%.

Princeton: 50%.

Yale: 60%, although I don’t think your STEM passion is a match for their ambience.

Harvard: 60%. You’d be a good fit there.

WUSTL: I really could go many ways on this one. On one hand, WashU often turns down applicants they think aren’t a good fit for the school or wouldn’t go if admitted; then again, they like foreign perspective and volunteer service. You’ll have to wait and see!

I also recommend you apply to Caltech.

I hope this was helpful! Of the above schools, I am an admit to Stanford, Yale, Cornell, and Caltech and can help you with those if you have more questions. I’m also curious to know why you ranked the schools by preference in that order.

Thank you all for helping me and replying. @keyboard18 , Thank you for helping me but I had a few more questions. Am I considered an international student? I moved to Texas this year but used to live in India before that, so how would colleges know english is not my first language. I want to major in biology and write the MCAT. Would that alter my chances of applying to certain colleges? Am I wasting my power of ED on cornell or should I just EA it? Thank you. And just out of curiosity, which college did you choose?
