I think you’ll have a really good shot at Tech. It won’t be too much of a problem. But what are your SAT IIs? If i’m not mistaken you should should take at least 2. I would recommend you take something relating to the subject you want to study in college.
Depending on what you think your major might be you might want to take the Chemistry SAT II subject test. Why? Because if you can get a high enough score you get credit.
Chemistry 680 credit for CHEM 1211K
Chemistry 730 credit for CHEM 1310
This would work best for someone who doesn’t plan on majoring in chemistry or another major that requires a bunch of chemistry classes.
Also since your income is <30,000 you should make sure and apply to this. Do not miss the Feb 15th deadline.
Eventhough Georgia Tech doesn’t require SAT Subject Tests, they will consider them. As stated on their Freshman Application page, their holistic review includes consideration of 8 factors and “Other Standardized Testing” is one of them. They state that you are welcome to send the scores and they will be considered. I do know of applicants that got in regular decision without sending Subject Tests. I’m sure there were also applicants that got in EA without sending them, I just don’t know any. My daughter had numbers very close to yours. She had 34 ACT, but also 33 in both Math and English, about a 3.75 UW GPA (4.2 W), and 14 total AP through senior year. She submitted 4 Subject Tests. She was accepted EA. She also had many EC’s with strong leadership, so who knows if the Subject Tests were a factor in her admission. But, with admission becoming more and more competitive, I would take the tests and have them considered with my application. Good luck!!!
I think you have decent chances, your scores fall somewhere in the middle 50% of the class of 2014 freshman class profile. I haven’t taken any subject tests either and my counselor told that it’s fine. Certain schools require them but Georgia Tech is not one of them.
Sounds like you have a good shot! The number of APs is important to Tech and I think your ACTs are fine as they are. I don’t think you should worry about SAT IIs.
