Also forgot to mention that I took part in the DSAP project. A project where you analyze DNA genome samples from Rutgers universities. And so I got published in the NCBI database.
I think you are looking good as long as you have been taking rigorous Core academic classes and you get good LORs.
Be aware that JHU is a reach school, regardless, especially in research, your type of research included, so it’s important to have some good safety schools on your list too. Also, check affordability to you.
My advice, medical school is a popular dream for smart kids coming out of high school. The reality is that almost none of them go to med school. The reason is, as kids mature, they realize that they have undiscovered passions in other things.
I recommend this. DON’T go to a school because of “premed prestige” or rankings. Hopkins is a very expensive place to go. Unless your parents have a $250k wad of cash lying around, you shouldn’t even have it on your list. Choose an affordable school that has flexibility, and seriously…check out scholarships. You’ll be surprised how many medical students have problems getting loans to complete medical school because of a mountain of student loan debt from their undergraduate. Graduating debt free puts you at a huge financial advantage if you do decide to do medicine.
Yeah, I wasn’t really interested in Medical School for Johns Hopkins. I want to stick with just research and explore careers from there. Thanks for the comment man!
