I am a Junior right now, so some of these numbers may be estimations.
My unweighted GPA will most likely be around a 3.7, and weighted will be about a 4.9. I have taken the SAT once and got a 1440, and I am aiming for about a 1550 for my next SAT.
I also have several family friends and member who are professors and/or graduated and are doctors at their hospital (I want to become a doctor as well). I am planning on “job shadowing” one of these doctors in the next month or so. My dad is also an Alumni.
The process of “chancing” is extremely inaccurate - no one on this site can give you any more than a guess based on what we perceive to be important to Hopkins’ admissions process. That being said, in my view your GPA and SAT score are currently on the low end of the admitted student profile - unweighted GPA is expected to be closer to a 3.9 and your SAT is slightly below the 25th percentile mark for the most current freshman class. That doesn’t mean you won’t be admitted, but with no information about your extracurriculars or indication about how you’d write your essay, the best I can say is you should try to get your SAT score up to be a competitive applicant.
I agree with @saif235 . At best, your hard factors are on the low end of the scale. How are your extracurricular activities? If Hopkins is a dream school, then you should definitely do early decision. It is uncommon, but I do have several friends in KSAS that were on the lower end but still got in ED
In regards to extracurriculars, I am secretary of two clubs, president and founder of one, and a member of seven total. I am definitely considering applying for early decision. Thank you for your input!
