What are my chances for Rice?

I'm planning on doing Chemistry, hopefully with a Biochem minor. Sorry this is really long; I just wanted to be thorough!

I go to a public school but it's one of the best in the area, very well known for both academics and sports.
GPA: 103.986 weighted, unweighted isn't shown
Rank: 9 out of ~530
ACT: 30 (not sure the exact numbers, but ~28 Math, ~31 Reading/writing, ~32 Science)
SAT: 2150 (again not exactly sure, but ~760 Writing, ~750CR, ~640 Math)
I know my math scores aren't too hot, but I don't have time to retake them because of band.

Extracurriculars:
Band; first chair flute. I was flute section leader last year and drum major this year. I also do kind of extracurriculars within band, if that makes sense, such as playing in the pit orchestra for the school musical and the district full orchestra, as well as a range of other things. Advanced 3 years in a row to the state level with flute quartets, earning the highest ranking my freshman year. I give flute lessons to little kids too.
UIL Academic Team--Spelling; the past 3 years we have advanced to the regional level, and I consistently place in the top 4.
GT and NHS; community service stuff.
Quidditch; this is extremely nerdy, but I'm one of the founding members of the quidditch team. The other officers and I coordinate games, fundraising, practices, and other aspects of a sport. We're expecting around 70 participants this year.

Reccs:
My chem teacher had me for two years and I'm one of his favorite students; he really knows my personality and has seen me do well in the subject I want to go into. I'm also really close with my freshman English teacher, and she has already told me she will write an awesome recommendation for me. I will also ask my band director, because he has known me since freshman year and knows that I am a hard worker. Counselor recc will be pretty generic, seeing as our old one retired this year.

Other info:
I started trying a lot harder last year, and my grades reflect it (rank went from 13 to 9, GPA from 103.000 to almost 104), so I'm hoping that they see that and recognize it!

Sorry that that was a lot to read! Thank you so much! And if anyone has any other suggestions for places for me to apply as reaches, safeties, etc. feel free to share. I'm already planning on applying to UT and A&M but because of the Top 8% rule I'm automatically accepted.

Rice: Reach

It is apparent that you have worked very hard during your four years of high school. I am not very familiar with Rice, so I looked it up. I believe they have a 19% acceptance rate, am I correct?

I must admit that your classes seem to be rigorous, so that is a big plus. And you seem to do well in them, besides that 2 on the AP Art History exam.

From your extra-curriculars, Rice will see that you are a very devoted and talented flutist, and that you are in an academic team, community service group(s), as well as one of the founding members of a quidditch team.

My personal opinion is that your grades are stellar, but you are missing a little oomph on your application - something to make you stand out.

But hey, who knows? Maybe you could write an excellent essay. And maybe they will take your recommendations into account.

I wish you the best of luck!!

By the way, this is my first post on College Confidential, since I just made my account a few minutes ago. :D

Rice: low reach
your SAT could be a liiiiittle higher, and your ECs are kinda too generic for Rice

If you are trying to major chemistry then I suggest that you try to make your SAT math score a little bit higher. Really good schools like Rice will probably want a well rounded student and your math seems little bit low for that (they generally like around 700 for all Reading, Math and Writing). I recommend either retaking the SAT to make your superscore higher or maybe consider taking Math subject test to prove that you can do math (:
