Awards/Accomplishments
- National Merit Semifinalist (should be finalist)
- Indianapolis Piano Teacher's Association Competition - 1st Place
- Indiana State Fair Young Hoosiers Competition - 2nd Place
- Midwest Conservatory Competition - Honorable Mention
- World Piano Competition - Semifinalist
- Symphony Orchestra - Concertmaster, excluding Camerata (10th and 11th grade), Symphony is technically 2nd best orchestra, while the top is called Camerata and is a division of Symphony
- Camerata Orchestra - 1st Violin (will be in it next year)
- 3 Varsity Letters (2 Football, 1 Track). This is where I think it gets confusing because I doubt anyone has ever been in this scenario before. I do a bunch of film/electronics work to contribute to my school, which might be useful since I'm applying to EE/CS/CompE. However, would it increase my chances if I just leave it as 3 Varsity Letters? Perhaps the ambiguity of that would lead them to think I play sports really well and get me accepted?
- National AP Scholar
- AIME Qualifier (score - 2)

Recommendations:
Predicted to be decent/pretty good. My APUSH teacher likes me a lot, even though my grades in his class were pretty bad. He's the one that asked me to do Track video stuff, and I even went to his house to fix his computer before. My orchestra teacher likes me a lot too, but I'm not sure how much that will benefit me. I need to get a Math/Science rec though, but I don't really have any good sources at the moment.

Essays:
I'm a terrible essay writer. I know absolutely nothing about the essays. I'll improve on this, hopefully, this summer.

Sorry I wrote a lot. TIA!

Alright will, I think you'd be a pretty good match for CMU; MIT and Cal Tech probably a bit of a reach...but you have pretty good ECs so that should help you out

Sorry, I can't find the edit button, so I'll just post here. Or maybe it's because I already edited it once...

Another EC I did was CMU's Andrew's Leap program. It's a 7 week program dealing with theoretical ideas in computer science, programming, math, etc. I did this the summer before my Freshman year, so does it still count? I also had to take a test to be admitted, and they only admit 35 students per year, so I guess that kinda means something. Would it help my chances for CMU's SCS?

Oh yeah forgot these too:

EC's:
Miami University of Ohio Programming Contest Participant

Accomplishments/Awards:
Butler University Programming Contest - 3rd Place Team
IUPUI Programming Contest - 2nd Place Team

did you mean 211 PSAT? Not that it matters, but to go from 121 to a 2290 SAT is amazing

Oh whoops, I meant 221 -_-; Actually, I'm not sure if it was 221 or 223, but oh well.

A 121 PSAT is god awful.

Read my last post please. Stupid forum won't let me edit after a certain amount of time.

Bump? Please reply...

i didn't think you could apply EA to more than one place.. ?

MIT and Caltech both offer unrestricted early action.

Your math isn't good enough for MIT and CalTech, especially for a Chinese male. REJECT at both.

Stanford...reach.

In at the rest.

Why Stanford and not MIT/Caltech? Isn't Stanford harder? I don't think my school has ever sent anyone to Stanford.

Your SAT scores are good to go and your grades are pretty solid. Your ECs seem ok and I'm sure you'll get a boost by being a self employed computer consultant. The fact that you've taken so many AP courses will definitely also help you in the long run. However, I'm kinda effy about the fact that you don't really have leadership positions in the science related clubs since you want to go into Enginneering. Also, you seem to have a lot of music related activities which may be a plus but it may also seem as if you were focusing more on music than on science. However, I think it would probably be OK. Have you considered sending a CD to your schools? It may be a good idea either way. Berkeley has only regular decision but the application is due in November. MIT and CalTech will be especially hard for you since you're an asian male. However, you never know and it doesn't hurt to try. XD Good luck! :)

Chance me back?

You're a Chinese male...the worst combination for MIT and CalTech.

For Stanford, you have a small chance.
