Well we went to Gainesville yesterday. Thank goodness!! We got the last apartment in the girls building of Windsor Hall, and it's amazing. The great thing is that they have freshmen contingency. I'm not locked in. For example, if I get rejected (which would be horrible!!) my mom gets her deposit and even the application fee back and it's like it never happened. I'm so happy!!

Dude, if you're not in, there is something seriously wrong with UF admissions. You should be in at Cornell with your stats.

I wish it was that easy. There's just so many people out there who get rejected with much better applications than I have. I feel like it's a lottery and that is what makes me worried. One person gets rejected with a 1450 SAT, and another with a 1200 gets in. I know there are other factors, but it's fishy. It's definitely fishy. I don't know if I believe their 'holistic admissions' claim.

I feel the same way. I know someone who got in with a 1240 and decent GPA, but then hear the stories of people with 1300+ that got rejected.

I think a great part of it is luck.

It's called affirmative action, guys.

^ Don't they disguise it as "Holistic Admissions?"

lol...holistic admissions makes me chuckle these days. as for UF, it was my number one school my entire life, and i am still a die hard gator fan. but ill tell you this, spend a weekend at UF and a weekend at FSU...ill bet money youll like FSU much better. im not being biased, its what happened to me and its what ive seen happen to many people. for example, 2 friends from UF visited me this weekend, within 36 hours they couldnt stop talking about the FSU campus and tallahassee, and one wants to transfer. so i know UF is better academically in most aspects but if your not gona enjoy it, then academics dnt mean jack. i strongly suggest you spend some time at all the campuses.

Gator Lover, how do you know of the people with better stats than you who got rejected? Are you talking about last year's decisions?
Because if you are, that sucks, because when I went there my tour guide said it's way more competitive this year than last year. And you have WAY better stats than me, see my chance thread.

They're only letting in 9,000 freshmen total because of budget cuts.
Sorry if this scares anyone.

Yes, I was talking about last year's stats. Don't think I'm crazy, but I read the entire 2008 decisions thread lol. I honestly have no idea what to expect, and I'm scared to death. These three weeks are going by very slowly. Going to the University of Florida has been my number one priority for years and I feel sad that there are going to be lots of people out there with their dreams smashed. I'm just trying to be positive and telling myself that... well... FSU can't be that bad. haha

Hey, you have great stats. I'm sure you'll get in.

31 act, 2000 sat, 3.87 gpa.. my D is also waiting for decision day!! i think it's just curiosity because she really really wants to go to Georgetown ! otherwise she got accepted to FSU honors, and she said it will be ok to go...the international program looks fantastic!! does UF have a study abroad program???

I'd say you have a fairly good chance.
I had very similar stats to you, 1350 SAT, 3.6 uw gpa, 4.8 weighted gpa and I got in. But that was last year... admissions are supposed to reject 10% more this year than last year...

"does UF have a study abroad program"

Yes!
