What are my chances for Vassar?

Hey there, I recently submitted my ED1 application to Vassar, and just curious as to what you guys think my chances are.

I am a male applying ED1, which I think helps for this particular college.

GPA: 3.8 UW

ACT (unfortunately): 29 (34 English, 30 Reading, 25 Math, 25 Science)

I am a homeschooler who has taken rigorous courses to set myself apart from the stereotypical homeschooler. Most of my classes are Honors, Dual Enrollment, and some APs. I have also tried to broaden my classes by taking courses such as philosophy, python, and british literature courses. I’m not going into detail with my courses by I should mention I started higher level math at a younger age (Pre-Calc freshman year). Did well in all my math courses.

ECS:

Tae kwon Do for nearly 13 years. I am a second degree black belt and also assist with teacher younger level classes. I have been assisting for about a year. I have multiple trophies from competitions.

Bowling: I have been a part of my local highschools bowling club (they allow homeschooler to join it) for 11th and 12th grade. I was team captain for the 12th grade, after only one year since I started bowling. I have also won multiple tournaments and earned trophies for highest average, highest game, etc.
I also submitted a quick video of me bowling.

Internship: I was accepted to a competitive internship at a sea turtle hospital during the 2019 summer. I helped with outreach, education, and public communication.

Internship: I have been one of the few accepted at an internship at the same sea turtle hospital. This one meets only once a month to conduct things such as (but not limited to): Field experience, species collection, species count, observation, and conservation.

I have been a volunteer dog walker at my local humane society for about two years now. I work to keep the dogs healthy and help them get adopted.

I have a job at a local ice cream shop since August 2019. This takes up about 3 evenings every week, and I work about 15 hours per week.

I have traveled all over Europe and Asia as part of my fathers work, and that applies to my intended major, international studies. This travel is also a big reason of why I homeschool.

My essay is a solid 8.5/10, I feel it reflects who I am and is very personal.

My supplementary essay is also probably an 8.5/10, since I really liked the school and both of my aunts attended Vassar. I show how my travel relates to my major, and I give unique aspects of the school I like.

My recommendations are an 8.5/10. While I have good ones from teachers, my other recommenders are what stand out. I have one from my martial arts teacher, my bowling coach, and a very good one from a close friend who attended Vassar.

I know this isn’t extremely in depth, but I hope it gives you an idea of my application. While my ACT score is sub-par, do you guys think that would be a reason to deny me? My ECS are what stand out for me as a homeschooler.

Anyway, thank you so much!

I have no special expertise here – I am just a parent – but it seems to me that you have a good shot. Vassar’s Common Data Set reflects that standardized testing scores are less important than rigor of secondary school record and GPA. Standardized testing is weighed equivalently with the essay, recommendations, extracurriculars, talent, and character / personal qualities.

You are correct that being a male gives you a boost, as does your ED1 application. Good luck!
