Hi, Im a junior in hs in CA and I wanted to know what my odds would be in getting into this school. I had a B avg. freshman yr and I think either a B- or C+ avg sophomore yr. I think I'll be able to achieve a B avg. this semester, but is that good enough? Can I possibly redeem myself with excellent (or at least better than average) SAT/ACT/AP scores, or should I begin to look elsewhere in Qu

You should probably raise your grades up to a A or B average. If you are taking AP/IB/honors courses, I guess a B+ average will do.McGill bases its admission decisions only on grades and standardized testings. McGill favors Canadian students over American students so you would have to aim for excellent grades for a better chance for acceptance. I think only 6% accepted are Americans? For SATs, you should be aiming for about a 1900-2100 and 600-700 on your SAT IIs.

Even at my high school in Maryland, alot of people are considering McGill as one of their college options. These are kids that have 2200+ on their SATs, around 750s on their SAT IIs, have 3.5-4.0 unweighted GPA (out of 4), about 4.5 (out of 5) weighted GPAs and they have pretty strong resumes.

My advice to you is consider a backup school in Quebec. Don’t give up though because you’ve still got time to raise you SAT scores and your GPA. Really try your best this year and if you are really determined to go to McGill, I’m sure you will improve your chances of getting in. :)
