Cappex said I looked like a pretty good candidate for FSU, but I’d like to hear your guys opinions since I don’t know how reliable Cappex actually is.

I am applying to FSU in the fall as well as a in state student. Keep in mind I am pretty sure that FSU recalculates gpa as well so the gpa that they calculate could be higher or lower then your own (from what I have heard usually it calculates to be higher). But from what I can tell you have nice extracurriculars, your ACT is on the “lower end” according to their website but students from my school have been accepted with 22s and 23s anyways. Plus they look at cumulative gpa rather than weighted gpa. The rigor of your classes could have been better but all in all I think if you write a good essay you shouldn’t have a problem getting in.

I am a recent high school graduate and I’m attending FSU this fall. They’re looking for students with 3.9+ GPA (but they have taken students with lower GPAs) and an ACT score of 28+. I graduated with a weighted GPA of 3.5/ACT of 28, but I fall into the “Asian/ Pacific Islander” category so my chance of getting into FSU was slim (about 2.0% to be exact). I applied for early admission and was rejected initially. I then talked to one of the admissions directors and they were pleased with my senior year GPA (3.9 unwtd/ 4.46 wtd.), which prompted them to give me admission into their university in the fall semester. It was like I was never rejected! I’d recommend doing this if you were to apply and get rejected.
But in conclusion, state colleges are looking for a high GPA and SAT/ACT scores that are on the higher end. Also, Cappex is pretty accurate on their college calculator. But if you were rejected from your dream college, don’t worry, you can always do 2+2 and get an A.A. at a local community college and transfer. Best of luck to you!
