What are my chances of being accepted into The University of Chicago?

@malikwoullard - bummer you weren’t accepted outright but the door is still open a bit with the waitlist. Are you going to let them know you’d like to be considered for a gap year or are you planning to move on to another school? Did I see that you got into Fordham?

@malikwoullard Congrats!!! I know it’s not an acceptance but you should still be proud of yourself. :slight_smile:

Look at it as a good outcome. Despite your stats on the low-end of the mid range, and especially since you applied RD instead of early, you were still waitlisted.

Reassess where you are - what acceptances you already have - and see if you stll want to be at UChicago. If you do, send out a message that you are interested in staying on the waitlist, If you dont, start loving the schools who loved you back.

I have this feeling that you will go far. I am not African American, but people like us who were born on the poorer side of the road are not as “shiny” in the beginning but we end up great anyway. Did someone say you got in at Fordham? That is great! That is a highly respected school, especially in NYC and old catholic elites. And Fordham, too like many top Jesuit schools (Georgetown, Boston College), offers a Liberal Arts type of education. You can get a UChicago-tyoe of education outside of UChicago. I daresay whatever you planned to do with a UChicago degree, you can do it with a Fordham degree. I imagine, you have been in tougher situations before, so you know the drill. You will do well, just keep on reaching and don’t get discouraged.

Just wanted to reiterate what I wrote on the other thread,

Please don’t fret whether you will get in to what is considered a top-tier college or not. Sometimes, comparing yourself to colleagues is very disheartening, especially when viewing those qualifications on paper. These schools admit so few people, that large numbers of qualified applicants who were not admitted can probably fill up stadiums, the accepted ones and denied ones, indistinguishable from one another.

Most of the kids going to top these schools are no different than you. That you even applied demonstrates your ambitions, and you’ll always have those qualities to carry you toward your pursuits.

Good luck to all of you and hope you’ll love your college experience no matter where you decide to go.

@JBStillFlying Yes, I got into Fordham! Emory’s decisions come out in about a week.
And, @SuperGymnast_04 thanks!
@FStratford You’re right! Thanks! I’d love to attend Fordham, but the aid package was not so great haha.

Heads up, I think you should maybe change your name before posting everything about yourself online.

@clubpenguindude uhh, why?

just for privacy! you never know where your information could be used and seen! BTW congrats on your acceptances!

@clubpenguindude I don’t really have anything to hide; it’s not like my SSN is on here. Nothing on here is really personal. It’s not like my address or even my city is on here. But, if you find me in real life, say hi!
Anyways, thanks!

Someone can download your photo and create a fake twitter or facebook account. Be careful

@malikwoullard
Have you heard anything from Tulane?

@VANDEMORY1342 No. I’m not sure when their admissions decisions come out.
