I looked online and some people say you have to submit your housing app immediately to get one, while others say that if you request a single you're basically guaranteed to get one. Does anyone who go to Cornell or did go know anything helpful? I really want a single, not because I'm a hermit, but I'd really just like to do my own thing.

There are lots of singles and they’re more expensive, so many people opt for doubles. DS1 had no trouble getting a single. He’s a recent graduate.

Oh ok good this is so exciting to hear

There is no guarantee that you would get one, but definitely submit your housing application asap.

Last year there was a deadline for the first batch of random room assignments. It was sometime in May, I think. Basically everyone who submits a housing application by that date is assigned housing at the same time, so there’s really no rush.

did your housing application come with your welcome package?

^ I think you can do it online as well. Check [Housing - Housing Home](<a href=“Housing | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>http://housing.cornell.edu/) for more details
