we cant really chance you without the SAT score, but if it gets over 2200 or 2250, then i would say fairly good chances at UCB, UCLA , UCSD and pretty good chances at all of the other schools

Im concerned about my GPAs though… do u think it will still be okay with couple Bs as long as i have good SAT score?

What major are you planning?
I would say your chance to UCLA, UCB, UCSD wouldn’t be quite high because of your numerous Bs. Especially if you plan on an engineering major, there will be plenty of competition.
Do you know your ELC if you are top 9% of your class? I’m sure if you get a 2100+ sat then you’ll have a very good chance with UCR, UCM, UCSC.
Also make sure you score at least a 770 on math sat 2 cuz it’d look a lot nicer on your application.

But the thing is our school is ranked 300 national Cerritos High School. Would that change something?

That means there are 300 other schools applying to the same colleges as you. My public high school is ranked top 10 in the state and I know friends with 2200+ SAT with similar number of Bs as you who have gotten rejections from UCSD and UCD and end up in cal poly. Basically grades and ACT/SAT scores are top priorities that mainly determine your admission. ECs and an essay don’t quite help as much unless it’s Berkeley where competition is high but u’d still need those high stats. I recommend you finish this junior year strong and raise those grades to the highest you can possibly do.

Calculate your UC GPA at end of Junior Year: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Average UC GPA at all schools listed is 4.0+ except UCM/UCR/UCSC. An SAT score of 1900+ is competitive except for the top tier schools. Essays and EC’s are also important so spend time on these. UC applications are reviewed for 14 different areas of criteria.

If you are ELC eligible (top 9% HS or in-state) you are guaranteed admission to UCM if you are not accepted into any UC’s of your choice so I would not bother applying to UCM if you meet the requirements. Save you $70. See link to calculate: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/california-residents/admissions-index/

UCR has a guaranteed admission program if you meet the requirements and deadline is July 2015. This will give you a good safety school.

Good Luck and you are on the right track.

My 10th grade uc gpa is 4.0/4.0
11th grade 4.0/ not out yet

I want to major in accounting or finance/business

If you want to major in Accounting or Finance/Business, only 3 UC’s have Business schools: UCR/UCI/UCB. For accounting and finance: Cal Poly SLO, SDSU and CSUF might be better options. Most of the other UC’s have Business Econ/Economics or Business Econ/Accounting majors. You should look at the business curriculums at many of the schools to see if they will meet your goals. My older son’s roommate at UCD is a Managerial Econ major and is planning to transfer to Santa Clara since UCD’s major is not focused in the areas of business he wishes to pursue. Not every major or program is created equal.

You look like a competitive applicant based on GPA. SAT score will help determine your chances at the upper tier schools. Work on your essays this summer and Good Luck with your application.

But the thing is i think my gpa is way too low compared to others based on what greatsparrow said… So im concerned :expressionless:

@mij221: I am getting a UC GPA of around 3.93 based on your posted grades with the extra honors points, so you are in the running for many of the UC’s. You should still consider other schools as Safeties such as the Cal States or some privates if you have the money. GPA is not everything. You need to have good GPA, test scores, EC’s and essays. With the Cal States, their critieria is GPA and SAT/ACT scores (except Cal Poly SLO), so they are easier to determine an acceptance or rejection. All you do is apply broadly and include safeties, matches and reaches to your list, so you will have a guarantee of some acceptances.

You should also apply to Chapman and Cal Poly SLO Orfalea,

Im more interested in UCs since after i graduate college i am more likely to go to Korea since my family is there. Since korean people cares about name values such as like well known colleges so more chances of me getting a job if i go to UCs

If you are going for prestige, then your GPA may not be enough to get you into the prestigous UC’s (UCLA/UCB). You need a competitive SAT as stated above, outstanding essays and EC’s and alot of luck.

Do u think i have high chance of UCI, UCD, UCSB? If i hit 2100-2200 sat based on my stats?

I would say you have a good chance at UCI/UCD/UCSB with an SAT of 2100+ but make sure you have some good backups in UCSC and UCR (although based on your above post, I assume they would not high ranking enough). One question, what happens if you do not get into these UC’s? What are some other schools that would be considered more well known? USC/LMU/Pepperdine?

I think any top 100 ranked schools and UCs i guess

Good Luck and repost when you have your SAT score and final UC GPA.

Im so scared and nervous…
