I am currently a junior going into my senior year. I have a weight GPA of 3.46. I have a current course load of 4 AP classes. I am planning on having another 4 in my senior year. My SAT score is 1810. I have a few EAs. I have varsity basketball (3 yrs, going on 4) and varsity tennis (1 yr). I am the treasurer for my CSF club, that is about the only club I devote a lot of time to.
My AP Classes:
- AP Bio(B/A)
- AP USH(C+/A)
- AP Language(B/A)
- AP European History(B/B) - <soph. yr="">
Senior AP Classes:
- AP Chem
- AP Calc AB
- AP Lit
- AP French/AP Gov/Econ</soph.>

I also have a job that I started this last semester of my junior year. I am also considering to take ASB for my senior year, will it increase my chances of getting in? (Even if I do get into ASB, no guarantee yet)

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES?!?!?!?!??!

Sorry! my 2nd semester grades for those junior AP classes aren’t concrete yet, but those are what they are at right now.

Your chances are good.

You should get in. I was accepted to SDSU this month with a similar GPA and only 3 APs. Being in ASB won’t affect your SDSU application because CSU applications don’t consider extracurricular

Do you recommend taking another academic class instead of trying ASB? Or it will not make that big of a difference?

This is what sucks about high school. Students are willing to trade extracurriculars that they’re interested in with hard classes just for college. Your SAT is good enough to balance your GPA. I’d raise that 3.46 to at least 3.5 just to be sure. SDSU just keeps on getting more competetive each year.

You have plenty of AP courses, I would do ASB anyways because it’s a great experience and can still help you for scholarships! From someone who did the same thing my senior year, it’s worth it

Thanks celery and jugg! You’re right, one class will not kill me. It’s good to stay focused your senior year academically, but one also has to realize it’s his/her last year of high school, so make the best out of it.

Update: My 10-11 GPA bumped up a bit to a 3.57 & I plan to aim for 1050+ on my CR+M this upcoming SAT. Am I looking good? Applications are in less than a couple months…getting pretty nervous.

SDSU has gotten quite selective over the last several years.

Like it or not, they don’t care about the rigor of your Sr classes, ECs, letters of rec or anything - as long as you complete the prescribed a-g curriculim.

They use a simple formula to combine your GPA and SAT (and they only count a-g classes from 10 and 11 and ignore +/- in your CSU GPA - this tends to bring peoples GPA down a bit)

Calulate your CSU GPA here:
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

CSU GPA * 800 + SAT M&R = CSU Index

With a 3.57 and a 1050, you’ll have an index of 3906.

Last year, their cutoff for non-local students was around 4100. It seems to creep up a little each year.

You need to shoot for a 1250+ M+R SAT to have a good shot of getting in.

Please keep an open mind and apply to several other schools.
