Just check my score for SAT! It is pretty low…1420…

yes, you need to raise that SAT score (it’s all 3 combined right?)

I know someone who had almost exactly the same profile as yours and she was waitlisted and rejected because she had low SAT scores.

To UNC or Wake? And Im going to take the ACT next year, the SAT again, and also a couple Subject tests.

Wake Forest’s SAT score is now optional, should i still send it in?

Thank You!!!

^Bump. Woah didn’t know that WF had it optional. My question too on this. Care to send your thoughts on it. Thanks!

If you’re OOS, you’re chances are looking slim to none. Instate you might have a chance. You definitely need to pull those SAT scores up to at least a 1700 (that’s the lowest score I know for anyone that got in in-state). OOS SAT scores are typically in the 2000s. Your involvement is very impressive, but grades do play a factor. Since you have so many B’s, it’s not looking great. Also, I thought you got kicked out of NHS if you made more than one C (I’m in NHS and told that this was the rule).

^Most NHS chapters determine whether you’re in or on probation or whatever by your GPA. Or at least my school’s does.

I think UNC is a no-go. I’ve never heard of ANYONE increasing their score by 600 points.

My advice is this: Go to another college/CC for your first year and aim for transferring in. I can’t speak much for Wake, but it’s easier, but still not exactly easy, to transfer into UNC. You won’t have to stress out your senior year, or now even, and you still get to where you want to be eventually. I transferred into UNC with a 3.46 college GPA and not a whole lot of ECs, but all of my ECs were obviously of my genuine interest.

Assuming you did well in college, you’d most likely be an easy in for a transfer. Just don’t pad your college GPA with easy classes. UNC is wise to this and a couple of people I know with college 4.0s for that reason got shot down by UNC.

As for trying to get in right from HS, you’re a long shot any way you slice it. To me, it seems silly to pay money and stress out over a long shot, when you could relax a little and improve your chances immensely through college work and still get into the school you want. But I’m practical to a fault. :)

The fact that you said “me and my friend” killed it for me… You’re definitely not getting in.

^ suure, because there are no people with mangled grammar/syntax wandering around UNC Chapel Hill…

I agree though, out of state it will be tought for you, OP.

What is your weighted GPA (I’ve seen all your grades, but assuming your from NC, weighted GPA will give a better picture.) I don’t know of anyone instate who got in with anything less than 4.0 weighted, not saying it doesn’t happen, but it is tough.

Also, your SAT score is really low, as someone already mentioned the minimum seems to be around 1700 for instate, with most of the instate students I know fluctuating between 1900-2100.

Ask yourself if you meet these academic standards. If you don’t, then the chances aren’t likely, because no amount of ECs will make up for lackluster academics.

Just as a bit of hope my first SAT score was a 1500 and I got it up to 1810 and I was accepted (in-state). Though I did have excellent extra curriculars, recommendations and solid gpa (3.7uw). My essays weren’t bad but not great.

Just saying don’t give up, just keep in mind that it is not likely. I know expecting a rejection letter made my acceptance all the more special.
