What are my chances of getting into Boston College?

Hey!

Background: I applied early action to Boston College and right now it’s my #1 choice. I applied as a finance major in the Carroll business/management school. I am a white female from Delaware.

My SAT is a 1410, which I know is below their average (730 CR, 680 math). My SAT essay score was a 23/24. Do you think this puts me in a bad place for admissions? I know their early pool had an average of 1440ish last year but I still fall in their middle 50th percentile.

My GPA weighted is a 4.25 and unweighted it is a 3.9. I go to the top ranked high school in my state and I have taken 6 APs (Stat, Macro, Micro, APUSH, Psych, and Gov). So far, I’ve gotten 4’s and 5’s on all of my AP exams.

This is a basic list of my extracurriculars: varsity rower for 3 years, captain of the rowing team, national honor society member, internship with our state senator, internship at a bank over the summer, member of our schools service related club for 4 years, peer tutor at an inner-city school, etc.

I got very strong recommendations from my English teacher and my Spanish teacher. I believe the essays I submitted were well written and personal. I am still very worried about the low SAT score :frowning:

Thank you very much for reading, I would love to hear everyone’s input!

Congrats! You have solid credentials. CSOM can be tricky. Go back to the ED and RD class of 2022 thread and scan the conversations of stats of those who got admitted and those who did not. Keep us posted.

The average SAT for Class of 2022 admitted students EA was 1453. The average for Class of 2022 admitted students overall was 1448.

The average for enrolled students was 1392, with a middle 50 percentile range of 1340-1480.

No one knows how different the stats might look for CSOM in particular. Good luck!

Thank you! So if the average is a 1392 for enrolled students, that means they must take students with a 1410 rather consistently, correct?

Maybe you should consider taking the ACT and weighing those results against your SAT score? You only have to disclose and submit 1 standardized test score…

Definitely not true. If you read through the past years of decision threads on this forum, you’ll see many students with much higher SAT scores who did not get in. And you’ll see many with lower scores who did get in.

What is your source on this? I have 1440 as average enrolled.

Mean for 2022 enrolled was 1392:

Middle 50 percentiles for 2022: https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/about/bc-facts.html

Average admitted was 1448: http://bcheights.com/2018/03/26/bc-accepts-27-percent-2022-applicants/

@bbfan1927 The stats for enrolled students is always lower than those for admitted students at all but the top 10 colleges.
