I am applying Early Decision I. I have visited the school and I am doing an overnight visit as well.

I saw no one else responded so I thought I’d help you out. I attend Princeton, but several of my friends applied to Colgate(including myself) and three currently attend.

I checked Collegeboard and, as you may already know, Colgate considers GPA, Rank, and Rigor to be important.

Let’s just get right into it: Both your GPA and SAT scores are very low for Colgate. But applying ED1 does show commitment, so that is to your advantage.

You hold only one leadership position in school(although gold award is a plus, although not academic), while Colgate loves leadership positions. So I guarantee that your admissions officer will ask themselves:
-If (she?) took 5 years of Latin why is (she?) not in Latin Honors Society? Why does she not hold a leadership position in Latin Club if not the society? Perhaps she is not as dedicated to Latin as it may seem? What were her grades in Latin? Why did she only participate in the Certamin but not move forward in the competition?

That’s actually key. The Certamin is known in the college admission world, and it is not really impressive unless you get to a higher level as anyone can participate in the Certamin.

Overall, I’d say it’s a high reach. I really don’t wish to be harsh but Colgate is ranked #18 for National Liberal Arts, and it is a traditional school. They expect 3.6+ and 2000+ and more than two AP courses.

I really do hope for you to be accepted, but the chances are slim.
