Hello, okay I'm a senior this year. I applied to FSU early on but got deferred. I know my chances are even slimmer considering I am also out-of-state.

My lowest grade is a B, I've never gotten anything below it. This is my fault but I actually started trying my junior year. I'm in one dual enrollment class (Anatomy&Physiology) and one AP class (AP Biology) this year. I wish I didn't listen to my guidance counselor when she told me not to challenge myself my junior year. My gpa is a 3.8 out of 4.0.
Do you guys think I have a chance? Maybe even a slim chance of getting in? It's my dream school. Do you think theres anything I can do to give myself a better chance?

Believe it or not, your chances aren’t bad. This has been made clear by FSU’s choice to defer your application. I think you know you are fairly qualified to be an FSU student.

So back to the question you should really be asking: What can you do to get in?

“Do you think theres anything I can do to give myself a better chance?”

You need to show them that you want to be an FSU student. Simply submitting an application doesn’t really show that you are that interested to the admissions department.

Things you can do:

1) schedule an interview
2) write a letter of interest
3) talk with some alums
4) many more.

Show that you are actively pursuing enrolment. Think of it this way; if you were avidly seeking employment for a job, would you just send them an application over the internet?

I honestly think that if you take into cosideration options 1-4, I think you will have a very good chance of being a freshman at FSU next fall.

If you have any mroe questions on how to go about completeing options 1-4, please feel free to email me > joey@chancemeplease.org

joeymack: thanks I really want to go to this school, but scheduling an interview is hard since I live in new jersey not florida, i donT know an alums but I can definitely write a letter of interest. Would they even read it thou?

Just give the office of admissions a call. Plane tickets from jersey to FL are very affordable with south west, something like $200 +/-. As far as alums, try your family or neighbors, FSU graduates thousands of students every year, so there might be a chance that any close friends or immediate family will know some FSU grads.
Yes, a letter of interest really does help. Really show your interest and explain to the admissions rep why you would be an asset to FSU
