I am student at Cal State San Marcos and I am looking to transfer to SDSU. I want to study International Business. I have an overall of 3.70 GPA and my CSUSM GPA is 3.87. By the end of Fall semester I will be done with all my GE's and pre-business classes. What are my chances getting into SDSU?

Based on your grades, you should be good, but IB is very competitive at SDSU. AND they had a freshman requirement for people, north of 56, to live on campus. I don’t know if that is also required for transfers.

In the regular admission pool, SDSU had 62K apps and admitted 7800 this fall.

The pre-reqs at Cal State San Marcos are different from the SDSU pre-reqs for IB, so will that put me at a disadvantage? Will be I better off applying as a marketing or management major then switch to IB if accepted. Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

I don’t think so, but this is what I would suggest. You may have some part-time faculty in your Business major at CSUSM that have contacts with SDSU staff or who may teach at both facilities. Find out and talk to a professor that knows someone in the Business department at SDSU and see what they would suggest. (You could say you’re moving to south bay so you need to shorten the commute and go to SDSU.)

Keep the business major as IB because the campuses do share a bond. AND, start looking into internships for the IB major. No internships =no job after graduation. SDSU has some really good leads

Thank you so much aunt bea!
