Hi!

I just wanted to know what my chances of being accepted into SCU or USC are if i have a 3.0 GPA and an above an 1800 in the SATs. I am really nervous about applying. Also, if you guys could maybe recommend a couple of good safety schools for me, it would really help me out. Thanks!

USC …low-to-no chance

SCU…low chance

Your problem is your GPA. Your test scores would also be on the low side.

What is your M+CR score?

For safeties, we need to know:

What is your home state

How much will your family pay? (safeties have to be affordable!)

If you’re a Calif resident, do you qualify for Cal Grants? Which CSUs are you applying to? Can you commute to a UC or CSU?

USC: High Reach
SCU: Low Reach

With a low GPA of 3.0, your best bet would be your local Cal State as a Safety and commute, if you are not eligible for much financial aid.
If you are in-state California and low income, you will be eligible for financial aid for the Cal States such as Cal Grants, Pell Grants etc… You need to run the Net Price Calculators for each Cal State you are interested in attending.

Average Cal State tuition/year is around $7000.00 not including transportation and books.
Here is a list of the immediate service area Cal States:

Some suggestions for Cal States would be Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, San Marcos, Sac State, San Francisco State, Humboldt…

Also calculate your CSU/UC GPA: <a href=“UC Freshmen Admissions Calculator – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/uc-undergraduate-admissions-calculator/

Good Luck.

Tuition is not a problem, and I am an International student, so I would need to stay in dorms for the first couple of years.

Thanks.

What schools are on your list? USC and SCU are unlikely due to your stats.

What is your major and career goal?
