What are my chances of getting into Uconn?

My statistics:
GPA: 2.83 (UNWEIGHTED, ive taken 4 AP courses and did decent in them, and a few honors courses too)
Class rank: 121/332 (top 36%)
Im getting two letters of recommendation, from my counsiler and my AP french Teacher.
SAT- Verbal 450, math 580 (im taking them one more time in hope to raise the score more)

Extracurricular Activites:
Keyclub- four years (120+ hours of community service/volunteer work)
Fencing- four years- i got extremely involved in that
Anime Club- 2 years
Web page design club- 1 year that it was offered
Tennis for one year
ROV club 3 years (Remotly operated vehicle club, we make underwater robots, then take them to a competition for competeing.)

Aditional Information:
I do cultural dancing every year, this would be my 5th year. i manage a dance group, as well as choreograph them, AND dance in it aswell.

Im Hindu 100%.

Ill be writing an essay, which i am hoping will give me an edge, i think its a huge key to my success in this. ill be having all of my english teachers edit it, and i will be seeing a college cousiling expert, who will edit that as well, she does college admission essay editing.

Ive taken 4 AP courses:
AP computer science, my grade was an A-
AP biology: B-
AP French (i think this looks great already, its a 3rd year college level course)- no grade, taking it this year
AP Psychology- taking it this year, dont have any grades in the course yet.

Ive taken Honors level french for 2 years, getting a B in both years, a C in french Honors my 3rd year taking it, which is like a B in A level. ive taken all Honors level science courses, either getting A's or B's in them, chemisty is my only exeption, i got a C- on that, but its like a B- in an A level course, i took the honors level.

Also i attend a blue ribbon highschool which is ranked in the top 4% of the country.

theres alot more i believe, i just cant think of anything right now. What do you all think? if you have ANY suggestions, that would be wonderful, im basically desperate for any information.

i forgot to mention, i have work experience, i worked at a Hotel over the summer, working in all aspects of a hotel business, including Marketing, front desk, laundry, housekeeping, and anything else you can think of.

Also, ill be apply for Early descision in Uconn, i have visited 3 times, one time of the 3 was because i was doign a cultural dance there at storrs, and the other 2 times were touring, and ill be going again for the open house, so that makes 4 times visited there. The college representative is comming from Uconn to my high school so ill sign in there with them....

I am IN state.... i think i have covered everything now...

Someone please help me out here, i really need it...

10 years ago you would have gotten in no problem. but now, the average (old) sat score is an 1170 and 80% were in the top 25% of their class. its gotten extremely competitive. i'd say its a reach for you.
what high school do you go to?

btw, i love your username!

i Love Uconn, if i could have one school i could go to, with a 100% chance of getting in, it would be Uconn. i wouldnt bother to apply anywhere else if i could get in.

I go to East Lyme High school, CT

im planning to work extremely hard this quarter, and try to psring for all straight A's. not only that im taking the SAT's one more time in October, hoping for a higher score. ive taken it a few times, my score jumped 140 points last time, who knows about this time, im studying like mad. my guidance counsiler who used to be an admissions officer at uconn about 4-5 years ago, says im in the Uconn range... so if i push it really hard i think i can do it.

Uconn knows my highschool according to my college counsiler, who left us last year cuz the highschool was being tough on her.

I plan for early admission, as soon as quarter one grades come out. by them my SAT scores should be in, which im hoping ill have done alot better on, my counsiler, thought i would do a lot better... maybe im filling the circles in wrong or something? i dunno. anyways, if u could gimme some info, something that could help me out... anythign would be great....

oh and your username is pretty cool too!

You can tell that you are really passionate about UConn and really want to go there. The admissions office will see that, and that will help you. Obviously, you don't have great grades, and your Verbal score is incredibly low. You need to re-take the SAT to improve your chances, as well as have a strong senior year. If your grades are rising, that will help you. Some colleges don't even consider freshman year grades.

They accept 2 out of every 3 students. Honestly, you could easily be that student they reject, as you aren't in their percentiles at all. But I think you can raise your SAT score (specifically verbal) as well as improve your GPA to at least a 3.0. I know people who have had similar stats to you that have gotten rejected from other state schools that are less prestigious.

It's a reach for you, even in-state, but it's achievable with hard work the next few months.

Thanks very much. i plan on getting straight A's this quarter in school, and deffinetly working hard for those SAT scores to rise. after my first quarter, and hopign a riuse in my verbal SAT scores, i think if i have a great essay, i should be able to make it in. i try to challenge my self by takign hard courses, but i dont know if that was a good idea anymore.

last time i took the SAT's because i took a course that studied mostly on the math portion, my score came up 140 points. i am tryign extremely hard this year. Please tell me if there is anythign i can do. by the way, im sure 3.0 is what i should have and im working for it, but my 2.8 is unweighted, and is probably a 3.3 at least weighted...
