So I’m considering mostly southern colleges for example…
Duke
Vandy
Elon
Wake Forest
UVA
Richmond
William & Mary
Davidson
But I have not ruled out strong northeastern schools entirely.
With a 33 on the ACT and legacy (parent + sibling) at Duke, I’m curious as to my chances at other schools. Duke would most likely be a wise E.D choice, but I don’t want to box myself in and only apply because of the legacy. Wondering what my chances are at other schools (UPenn, places without legacy etc.)
I’ve had a steady job at a physical therapy office for the past two summers.
As far as ECs…I’m the President of NHS, Captain of the Dance team and a Co-Chair of the Dance Club, and basketball manager as well as a few other minor clubs. I currently attend a private high school in New Jersey and have good teacher reccs and looking good for my personal essay.
Any tips would be appreciated:)
I think you have a very good chance at Duke with a competitive ACT score and especially the legacy status! I think both Duke and Vandy are low reaches (Duke is a reach but it’s a low reach offset by the legacy status) and the others are all matches.
Stats wise, Vandy seems to be at Duke’s level for admission difficulty now (if not higher on SAT/ACT). The others you list are in the same general range, but UVA and W&M will be tougher if you are out of state, and Elon should be an easier admit than the other schools listed.
