If not these universities , which universities would i have a better chance at , who also provide fin aid and have quality education for computer science.

Thank You !

Cross UCLA off the list - no FA for internationals. Also be aware that MIT and Caltech do not accept Subject Tests.

Noted. Thank you very much

You need to actually sit down and figure out which colleges in the USA are the best for CS and the best for you. Except for Cornell, “the Ivies” aren’t the ones which are known for computer science, nor is Amherst, Colgate, or Vanderbilt. UPenn is an Ivy.

Only MIT and Caltech are top CS schools on your list.

Acceptance rates for international students who need financial aid are abysmal, and the number of Indian students who are applying to the most famous CS schools in the USA is enormous.

Two questions:
A. Why do you want to attend college in the USA?
B. What grade are you in now?

Also all the UC’s are test blind through the 2024 admissions cycle.

Okay thank you very much. I will look into other universities in the US and put in more time and research on making a list of universities.

I want to attend college in the USA next year because as everyone says , it is the land of opportunities. Statistically , the top indian colleges are way harder to get into and the competitive exams here have the highest turn out. Studying in the US has always been a goal , and making it would be a dream come true.

I am starting my final year this month. I passed 11th grade with 96%.

I will not be applying in the UCs as they do not provide financial aid to intls

The UC’s do not even provide financial aid to out of state Americans.

Sounds good. May I suggest that you expand your search and focus on colleges which are known for giving financial support and merit money to international students. As others have written, the acceptance rates for international students, especially from India, to the most prestigious colleges are abysmal. So you may want to look at “lower ranked” colleges which will both have a higher admission rates and be more likely to also offer merit funding.

Good luck!

What you are really looking for is a good to great colleges which you can afford, with some emphasis on the “afford”. Start looking for colleges which have the most generous financial and merit aid for international students.

I was thinking the same thing, except for the financial aid issue. Some of the Ivy League universities give full need based aid for international students, and they are “good enough” for computer science. If the original poster gets a full ride to Harvard, then it would be worth attending for CS.

That’s a really good point.

Thank you so much for the response , I have started to look into the lower ranked schools which offer financial aid while also being in the top rankings board for computer science courses.

I understand what you mean by that , as I will obviously have competition from other Indians who will be trying for CS in the prestigious colleges.

I will be applying in a few of the ivies , in hope of getting the need based aid .

And also , how are the SUNY Stony Brook University and Rutgers University in terms of financial aid for international students , as they are pretty highly ranked in the computer science rankings.

Thank you for your time
