I have a highscool 4.0 gpa & I was homeschooled for highschool. I got 1100 on my SATs (im not a good test taker, I could of did better) Im applying as a transfer & I have less than 11 credits & I passed the courses I took. I do have community service experience, I participate in extra curricular activities. Im really scared my deadline is July 1st & I am hoping to get in. The classes I have taken at a community college were really only for personal enrichment becauses they were independent study courses but they were general education courses english, science, art, etc & I received credit, but Im wondering if I should still submit them. This my dream school & I want to go to UCF so bad. I am also an out of state student. I was also wondering why colleges want your social security number & does UCF ask for this? I dont feel too comfortable about giving it out even though Im sure UCF wont try to steal it or anything else from me. Im also thinking that with me being a homeschooled student, that might mess my chances up. I have my transcripts from my teacher who taught me, but unfortunately she has passed away she was almost 70 years old. She was a retired teacher from my school district, so her students she taught in homeschool pretty much had the same curriculum that regular high school did. I was thinking that I would need a letter from her, but since she has passed away (this was about 1 yr ago in 2010) I cannot get that from her even though I do have the transcripts signed by her before she died. How do I send my transcript out since they are not coming from an actual school in a regular envelope? I contacted admissions & they told me homeschool students have the same requirement as everyone else & that If I applied as a freshman even with the deadline passed they would still try to give me a decison in time before school starts. I dont know what that means really, I dont know if that means no or yes or if that I would have a chance applying as a freshman after the deadline. Do transfers get offered scholarships? I was just wondering even though it might be too late. I dont want them to think that my transcript is fake or anything because it isnt, it looks like an official normal transcript on waterproof type paper. Times running out & I dont know what to do please help & thanks for looking.

are your SAT scores with writing?

Yes my SAT scores include writing, reading & math…Im not big on math & im not too good at it but I always managed to get atleast an A or B when I was homeschooled because there wernt too many tests or quizzes on the work mostly homework assignments & every once in a while an exam & the tests is what usually would bring my grade down. Do I have any chance of getting in?

If you’re applying this year, I would say no unfortunately… you’ll probably end up on the wait list if anything. Plus if UCF is your dream school why are you applying so late?

I am applying late because I had to wait for my classes to be finished. I dont see why I wouldnt get in I know someone who had a 2.2 gpa & 1000 on their SATs & they got in. They applied 1 month before & got accepted 1 week before school started & they are in the school doing fine, so I do think I have a chance with my stats compared to theirs & I actually have community service & extra curricular activities experience & this other person didn’t participate in anything at all & have been arrested for drinking, fighting & drugs & I dont do any of that. We both are from the same place out of state students & lived near eachother so I have known this person for a while now. I also have realized I like this school better than any other so thats also part of why I am applying late, but no matter what Im still going to try & apply I dont have anything to lose. Is this there anyone else on here who can actually give me a real detailed answer on why I would or wouldnt get in & does anyone have any good tips for me?

Apply immediately. Send everything you have. That is the only way you will know for sure. At least you will get your answer quickly. Submit your college grades! They will show academic strength. Just realize that no matter what your stats are, you are out of state and there are MANY people with very strong GPA/SAT’s that were waitlisted and then finally denied on May 31st. But you never know until you try.

I wasn’t trying to sound mean, I was just trying to be honest and not beat around the bush. I know I’d hate for someone to get my hopes up for something. But you obviously are confident that you’ll get in, so apply ASAP. It’s still possible, but who knows how many spots are open and the stats of those people trying to get in the last spots. It’s unpredictable pretty much, just give it a go. Out of state shouldn’t matter and your stats should be compared the same as everyone elses. & wow a 2.2 GPA and 1000 SATs, now I have hope for myself, so thank you lol. But honestly, write a kick-ass essay, submit a resume of your activities, get recommendations if you can, and explain any low grades if you have to. All I’m saying is no matter what, it’s really hard this time of year to get in. Good luck though, I love UCF also :)

Sonia, I would have to agree with the decision to apply ASAP. That’s all you can do at this point. Each situation is different so while we can “chance” you, it really depends on the admissions office and what THEY decide.

I will tell you this if you did not already know, since you’re applying as a transfer student with less than 60 credit hours, your admissions decision will be based on the incoming freshmen profile (which is very competitive). Since UCF is your dream school, I would suggest taking the SAT/ACT again to improve your scores, get some more credits under your belt, and maintain a competitive GPA. Your stats and situation looks promising to US, but the admissions office could be looking at other aspects of your application.

You can apply now, but if they defer you for whatever reason don’t get discouraged. Just continue to do well and being that UCF is your dream school I’m confident that you’ll do whatever it takes to attend. Good luck to you :)

Thanks everyone, as21608 I know you wernt trying to be mean I just wanted a detailed answer, sorry if I sounded mean. IamBlessed you respond to all my questions on here thanks. I’ll just try to see what happens, I have already been admitted into 3 other schools University of Tampa is one of them but I would rather go to UCF.
