What are my chances?

I am a sophomore in high school and I’m interested in applying to Notre Dame eventually.

I am involved in many extracurriculars and volunteer with my church (I am Catholic).

I’m afraid I am not taking classes that are rigorous enough. I am taking classes that I feel will be easier for me to get a high gpa. I have A’s, B’s and 2 C’s and took 1 AP this year, I am taking AP Psychology next year and I am planning on taking 2 my senior year. I am taking the ACT and SAT next year.

I am a documented American Indian with my certification of degree of Indian blood. and I am wondering if that will be a significant factor in helping me get accepted.

Should I apply and what are my chances? Thanks!

If you wish to go to any school, apply so long as you think you can be successful there. Your minority status may help you to get into many schools but you need to decide for yourself where you feel comfortable and if you can be competitive. Too many people find themselves in over their heads and struggle in college. Be realistic and you will be doing yourself a favor. That being said, ND encourages people to take the most rigorous schedule they can. This helps them and you determine if you can handle the rigors of the school. Be diligent in your ACT/SAT prep. Do a lot of practice exams, preferably from the ACT and SAT themselves, rather than one of the other prep guides. Good luck!
