I’m currently a junior in California
Ethnicity: Mexican
Gender: Male
GPA: 3.83 (unweighted)
4.52 (weighted)
ACT: 29 (but my recent practice tests gave me at a 32-32)
Class rank: 22/965 (expected to go up)
Extracurriculars: over 100+ hours at a local science museum, in 7 clubs, on the board for 3 as well as founding my own club, silver medalist in a interactive and gaming application competition (going to state), tutor for APUSH and Chem.
I’ve only taken one AP test but am currently studying for 4 in my junior year (chem, lang, comp sci, and us history)
I forgot to mention where I want to apply, all Ivy leagues, and UC Berkeley and UCLA
Hey, Your UW GPA and test score seem really low ivies! And your EC seems like fillers. You never know, you still got time to bring up your numbers!
Also, try to put in some safeties!
Good Luck!
Re-take your ACT, take the SAT and if you do good on those you should be good for stats. With EC’s how many of them you do isn’t everything. Letting us know what specifically your EC’s are would be helpful. Ivies like more unique people, so math league and Science Olympiad and History Bee aren’t gonna cut it you want more unique things than that. If you have enough time to inter somewhere like a hospital or something like that it will help you. Also make sure your rock those AP tests. Just like the person above me said, add some the safeties. Good Luck!
@johnthomas96 and @ryanroos thank you for your time, I do have safety schools like UCI, UCSB and some calstates. I am trying to get into more selective EC’s like SkillsUSA California President this summer as well as attending some summer college courses this year. I’ve been studying for the ACT and think I’ll do better this June. Thank you for you time!
UCI and UCSB cannot be considered safety schools. Many applicants with higher test scores and GPA have been rejected or waitlisted this year. UCR/UCSC might be considered possible safety schools (depends upon major). You need to bump up your ACT score into the 32+ range for UCLA/UCB.
What is your UC GPA post, weighted capped and fully weighted? Race/ethnicity are not considered by the UC’s so no advantage.
Intended major?
