-Challenging courses for my school

-USC
-Georgetown (a reach, I know)
-University of Washington (Seattle)

Other: Good letters of rec, lost my brother (only sibling) when I was eight (common app essay - I’ve gotten great feedback on it), should I take more SAT IIs (Just for Georgetown)?

Also I’m white

Just so you are aware, that UCLA/UCB do not give financial aid to out of state students, Your price tag will be around $60K/year so unless you plan to be full pay, you might want to reconsider these schools. If you can afford the costs, then I would say you should consider UCLA/UCB and USC as Reach schools but possible.

Thank you, and I can afford them (I’m extremely grateful for that). Can you chance me for the other schools as well? @gumbymom

I really am only knowledgable when it comes to the California schools so I would defer to other posters that are familiar with the rest of the schools on your list.

How is your class rank? Your GPA appears low for UMICH but that may be due to your school’s grading system. Have you checked the Naviance data of your HS for these colleges. Anyway, UMich would be a reach for you from OOS with average admission score not even considering your GPA.The OOS admission rate is around 20%.

My school doesn’t have class rank. Yeah, with Naviance, things don’t look great, but there have been people with my stats and below who have gotten in, so I’m hopeful

Just one more thing when you look at Naviance data, try to find the most recent data. The admission stat has changed upward significantly at UMich in the last few years. ACT 32 was above admission average a few years ago, but it is now at or below average.

would you recommend taking more sat subject tests? Would they help at Umich (even though I’d be taking them for georgetown)

UMich does not require subject tests. But do send them in if you have great score, they will still consider it and it may help to justify your GPA.

Bump
