Hi, I’m homeschooled and I’m applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate and I wanted to know my chances. (I’m in the 9th grade applying for 10th grade).

I have an article published in the World Economic Forum and Thomson Reuters (I worked with the non-profit arm for the latter)
I won a coding competition as part of a team. The competition was done by the largest internet company in Japan.

Probably will apply for close to 50% financial aid.
Just want to know what my chances are (or at least put me in the running) and any advice you may have.
I’d say your in. Your qualifications are great. In your essays, make sure you show character. Make sure you tell them who you are and what you’d bring to the school, other than your academic prowess of course.
I have to applaud you. Your achievements are spectacular
I’m assuming that your black so as an OVERQUALIFIED underrepresented minority, your chances have already skyrocketed.
YoungThriver, I, myself was actually surprised when I took the SSAT and got the results. Because I had done loads of practice for the SAT which I actually took just before I turned 13, standardized reading and math were pretty easy. The things I struggled with was the verbal (I actually expected to get a 600), so I guess I was lucky.
I also have a guessing strategy for the SSAT. I was worried about the -1/4 point, and within the testing room, I calculated that if you have 5 questions that you don’t know the answer to, guess on all of them. Why: The chance of getting one of those 5 questions right is close to 2/3 - and the chance is even more if you are able to eliminate answer choices. If you get even 1/5 right out of the 5 questions that you don’t know, the extra point will offset the (-1/4)*4 points that you will get taken away. If you are lucky you may get 2 right, and so on. If you had eliminated all 5 questions to two answer choices, the chance of getting one of them right would be 96.8 (so you know what I mean).
May I ask why you are only applying to those three schools? Have you been homeschooled from the beginning? I wonder about the transition from homeschooling overseas to very large schools which might have less support on social/emotional side than smaller, equally rigorous schools…
