What are my chances?

Hi, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to ask for anyone’s perspective on my possible chances of getting accepted into these four boarding schools I’m applying to; SPS, Berkshire, NMH, and Blair Academy.

I am 16 year old female from California, and am applying as a sophomore repeat.

I unfortunately didn’t do so well on my SSAT… landing with a mark of 61th percentile, am quite upset about it. However, on the flip side, I know that tests aren’t everything.

Luckily, I had solid grades 4.06, recommendations (I hope), essays, and interviews.

I’m also a alpine ski racer and rock climber that has traveled all over the world for racing/training (ski-racing).

Although, currently I‘m taking time off from skiing and studying in Spain, with goals of becoming fluent in Spanish.

I also play the guitar, ukulele and love to sing, and am very passionate about learning.
I’m incredibly interested in the sciences and have dreams of possibly pursuing them in the future, especially Astro-physics/environmental sciences.

I used to go to a ski-racing academy, but due to injuries, I’ve decided to search for new opportunities.

Thank you to anyone who could help. I’m not trying to get too upset about my score, but I think we all know that it’s a bummer when things don’t go as planned. Anyways, thank you!

Oh! I forgot, I used to volunteer at the dog-shelter often!

Along with the SSAT question, your resume is not clear for what you will bring to the schools outside of your GPA and general learning and Science interest. It looks like competitive skiing is finished. Are you pursuing music seriously? Do you have school leadership roles and/or community service? What are the details of the shelter work?

As written highly competitive schools like SPS do not look good, BUT there is probably more to you and your background you are not sharing. So, what is your hook? What will you contribute to your school?

You sound like an interesting candidate, who will bring a lot to the school community you join. Of your schools, I am most familiar with Berkshire and I think you are a strong candidate for them. (And probably the others too).

Your applications are in, and you’ve done the best you can. Now, whatever will happen will happen.

Hi, thank you, I really appreciate you reaching out!

Hi, yes, I am thinking of pursuing music seriously. On all of my resumes I applied with an interest of possibly making a band, and for my school leadership roles, it’s was quite complicated because my school was incredibly small and didn’t have much clubs (or any for that matter). However, I was the first to found a climate change club, which was club that had members that met every week to help find solutions to climate change in my local mountain area. With my passion for the environment, I have a plan to coordinate with the ski resorts near any of the schools I am in. In addition, I am not done ski racing and have been racing competitivly since I was 10. With my passion for skiing I plan to race for any of the schools. For Berkshire, I also want to rock-climb. For now, I am studying in Spain to become fluent because I couldn’t unfortunately race this season. I plan to race in the future though! Plus, for the dog shelter, I got in dozens of hours, but primarily I only did it because I love animals. I didn’t make it a super big deal on my application. It was more of a hobby to be honest.
