hey,
im currently a highschool junior, im an international student studying in Istanbul, with turkish and british nationality. Im just getting started at the whole application process and im wondering what my chances are at schools like NYU and Columbia?
Im taking the IB diploma with 6 courses
math (SL)
spanish (SL)
biology (SL)
english (HL)
art (HL)
economics (HL)
my grades are all 6's and 7's and overall including TOK and extended essay im expecting between 38-40 points.
i have not yet taken SAT but i expect 1800-2000 points, and plan to take literature math and perhaps bio for SAT II's.
my extra curriculars are quite good ive done:
volleyball for several years and travelled with the team on tournaments for four years.
i was on the basketball team and in the tournament for one year.
I have also been in various drama productions over the years.
in addition i travelled to an Ista festival (theatre/drama/leadership) and a HOISIC conference a student led leadership conference.
as for other acheivments Ive raised money in school to improve the IB art supplies for the IB students. For one year I also taught english to two young children once a week. Finally, i single handedly raised over 800 dollars that I donated to a fund for homeless children in Istanbul.
For other work experience I have also been in charge of updating the financial website of a credit rating company and have done a short internship in a advertising company. I also plan to go this summer to a spanish summer camp. I intend to major in some field of business and continue studying spanish.
thanks for any comments
