hi there,

I found this site very enlightening, full of people of wisdom and of myriad of cultures, backgrounds... so i thought why not try getting some help....

Im an non-US citizen, living in a small island. Im currently 19 going on 20. The fact is that i left high school 2 years ago, in my final year, and could not complete my exams. Due to a major family & personal problem and was unable to attend to high school again or any examination for the past two years. My school refuses to issue any statements about my academic history nor can i attend any other public schools (private are far too expensive).

I did the SAT once when i was 16 and got 710 M and 600 V.

Ive set up a small list highlights of my life if that could help some you to assess me more objectively,

Ive got a long list of extracurricular activities (been president of the school council, an active member of the school community, won a lot of national/international project/debates/competitions)

Before 2003, I had a good academic record (generally straight A's in mathematics & sciences, B's in classical fields)

am a polyglot (french, eng, spanish, hindi, and a few dialects), n did a lot of jobs from cleaner to project designer

I want to do a major in an engineering or physics - to continue in Robotics and/or in Space Research

My question, as the title says, is what are my chances of being admitted to and getting a scholarship, at least partial in a top-level college (Ivy, am aiming for CALTECH) and an average one. btw, could anyone advise me on a suitable major?

... btw am i too to be eligible for a scholarship? (dats wat my local US Embassy counsellor told me)

Thank you in advance for your help.

Jo

P.S - Kindly excuse any grammatical errors. English is not my native language.
