What are my transfer chances? (Any suggestions)

I am a community college student living in Texas. I got a GED score of 576 and I am considering taking the ACT depending on which colleges I choose to apply for transfer admission. I have 60 non-developmental credit hours and I likely would be transferring as a Sophomore or Junior also given that some courses may not transfer. My lowest grades are the following:

B in English 1
B in English 2
C in Microeconomics
D in College Algebra (May not be transferable due to grade)
B in Developmental writing (Non-transferable)
W in Developmental math 1(Non-transferable) (Technically withdrawn)
B in Developmental math 2(Non-transferable)
With only 1 Withdraw which was in Physics for non-science majors
I have made an A in all other classes including Pre-calculus, Biology 1 and 2, British Literature, and Macroeconomics
It is also noteworthy to note that all my poor grade work was in my first year and I have made a 4.0 in my last 34 credit hours. I had 1 really rough spring semester of my Freshman year and now everything seems messed up for me...

I am looking at the following majors: Government, Psychology, History, Political Science or Philosophy with a minor in whatever seems interesting or that I enjoy.

To be honest I am kind of gearing away from math or science related majors due to my grades and lack of classes in the field areas. I feel like I screwed up with the everlasting D in College Algebra and C in Micro and all is lost. In addition I dropped my first science class and I'd have to take an even harder version of something I'm not that great at. My GPA is a 3.60 with 60 Credit hours.(Includes college algebra grade and obviously excludes W's)

I am considering the following colleges the most and please add some in the comment section of good choices you would recommend for me and would not recommend based on the list I provide below.

University of Texas at Austin
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
Cornell University
UCLA
Cal
Texas A&M
The Ohio State University
Michigan State University
Indiana-Bloomington
Johns Hopkins
Arizona State
California Colleges

And quite a few others... I'm capable of writing a great essay that I will take my time on and ensure that I give myself the best chance on every application that I fill out. I have been very involved including being in Phi Theta Kappa (Honors society), Treasurer of Student Government, as well as many other active clubs and volunteer work.

What do you guys think about my transfer chances and etc?

Cornell and johns hopkins are very tough! Since you want to major in something other than science, then the A in bio1&2 wouldnt really give you that backbone rather than getting the A’s in english and micro. The upward trend in your grades does look quite nice, freshman year is a new vibe for everyone.

I would transfer with caution, knowing that some schools are a reach and just be realistic. Nothing is impossible. Stay dedicated.

As far as major, Political Science seems to be the latter. You can become a lobbyist for a pharmacuetical company or another company that has to due with science/medicine, knowing that you have already taken Bio 1&2, you have some sort of science background. You could become a lobbyist for anything. Poly Sci is very well-rounded and many people dont know it. You can follow the path of becoming a lawyer.

Keep your options open. Any class you take has a certain benefit. Just stay dedicated.

Thanks so much for the advice!

You’re welcome.
PS. For the future, don’t withdraw classes. It doesn’t look good. Major in something you feel you could keep going in. Poly Sci might bring the most benefits, but you need to have an interest.

Awesome, yeah I definitely won’t!
