What Are Some Catholic, Conservative, Preppy Colleges With Great Reputations...?

And I was trying to address all of the OP’s requirements, not just the one about reputation. I would never say CUA is at the same level as these other schools. I’m a huge fan of Jesuit schools - but if conservative is among someone’s criteria, I would not recommend them. OP listed more than just status.

Notre Dame

@InigoMontoya‌: I appreciate your point. However, the OP obviously has to trade-off reputation (and all that it conveys), conservatism, “preppiness,” Catholic founding, etc. Will he be willing to accept CUA’s stature for greater religious conservatism? Only he can make that decision.

And that’s why he needs to know of more than just the “top tier” Catholic schools. A family in my church had their son start at CUA. He didn’t feel safe there (it is in a sketchy neighborhood, and he’d had a sheltered upbringing). He transferred to BC. His parents will tell you that was the worst decision they ever made. They are offended that BC calls themselves a Catholic school. Now, I don’t agree with them, but that’s why I pointed the OP to both the web site for Jesuit schools as well as the Newman list - so OP can make an informed decision, rather than just hearing of the most prestigious schools with no consideration of other factors. Nowhere have I ever said CUA is of the same stature - just that it’s a top conservative Catholic school, as an option along with the top Catholic schools which skew more liberal.

Try St Anselm College in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Institute of Politics is on campus. It frequently hosts political forums and also is “ground zero” for the Presidential Primaries every four years. There is a Benedictine Monastery on campus and it appears to be a traditional Catholic college with a Liberal arts core curriculum.

I don’t get the impression Georgetown is conservative.

No. The Jesuit colleges tend to be more liberal or moderate. My cousin attended one - and he is a liberal Jew.

University of Dallas or Holy Cross.

Definitely check CUA. It just might be perfect for a spot on your list.

Providence College?

@CCPkrazy‌ I don’t like to chance since it would be nothing more than a guess on my part but here is the Fordham class profile http://www.fordham.edu/admissions/undergraduate_admiss/applying/class_profile_28473.asp</a>
Maybe also look into Fairfield, Catholic University, Siena College

Thomas Moore in NH is a tiny traditional Catholic college with an emphasis on learning the classics with a semester in Rome. The GPA and SAT averages are fairly high, too. <a href=“The Cardinal Newman Society”>http://www.cardinalnewmansociety.org/TheNewmanGuide/RecommendedColleges/TheThomasMoreCollegeofLiberalArts.aspx</a></p>
