I am going to be a second year this fall. I am an undeclared major. I don't know what I want to major in or what I'm interested in doing as a career. I need to choose a major by the end of my second year. Well I like English but I wouldn't want to major in it cuz I hate writing essays. Also, I'm not that good in writing. I would say I'm a decent writer but still struggling with grammar. Any major suggestions?

What interests you? We don’t know what’s going to be interesting to you…

I truly don’t think it wise or noble to choose your major based on difficulty. No one can provide you with a good answer with the info you’ve given.

With that attitude you will not succeed even in CHASS. The CHASS majors aren’t as easy as it seems. When I was a junior I had to take some freshman/sophomore breadth/CHASS courses to fulfill my major’s reqs, I noticed that many of the freshmen and sophomores were underachievers and were receiving Fs and Ds even with a VERY generous curve by the professor, which amazed me because I was able to achieve an A+ on the exams prior to the curve. Twilight_girl09, my suggestion to you is to change your attitude; every major requires effort and hard work on the student’s part. If you plan on entering the CHASS college then expect to write at least 2 essays per course per quarter. If you despise writing essays that much then I would not suggest choosing a major in the humanities/arts/social sciences because there is quite a bit of writing associated with the majors in the CHASS college.

Well, I think it’s better to choose your major based on your interest, not on the major’s difficulty. If you choose your major based on your interest, you’ll have more chance to succeed in that major. And i think there no such thing as “the major that isn’t very hard and interesting”. Every major is hard, even the one that seems easy.

When you said, “Well I like English but I wouldn’t want to major in it cuz I hate writing essays. Also, I’m not that good in writing. I would say I’m a decent writer but still struggling with grammar.”, does that mean you like everything else, but writing? So do you like reading? then how about majoring in Comparative Literature? I think comparative literature also requires writing essays, but if you think you are a decent writer, then I’m sure you’ll like it. Hope that helped : )

Dance Lol Check the list and take some of there classes

I agree with Dark Prince, You’ll never go anywhere far or worth while in life if you only take the easy way out. and all majors still have to write essays. yes cnas and bcoe don’t write essays in the way we all learned in school with 5 essays an intro, body, and conclusion but we do have research papers and such.

that said,
have you thought about creative writing. you said you don’t like essays but like writing. at least with creative writing it can be fun. if anything take creative writing 56 with professor goldberry long. I had her last quarter she’s really funny and interesting and I loved the class. and I’m not much of a writer.
good luck in finding a major but try to do something you like and just go for it.
