Okay, i really don't get it. I have a whole bunch of ECs, but I feel like I'm just wasting my time on them as they're not really medically related. What are some medical ECs that are going to let your application shine?

Look into volunteering at free clinics or become involved with overseas mission programs such as Operation Smile.

*EMT license,
*riding the ambulence thereafter.
*Doc shadowing
*Medically related research work
*hospital volunteering

My S had all of the above.

doing surgery on worms, bugs, ect.

Pharmagal, how do you get the EMT license?

Start by googling EMT services with your town and state name.

Each State has several EMT training centers. Contact the nearest center and fill up the application for EMT training. Different states have different minimum age limit and provide different training programs. Some run through school year, some are intensive Summer courses.

In NJ, my S started the training when he was 17. He attended their courses (twice a week) for a total of 180 hours of training. Part of the last few hours of training consist of assisting in a local hospital over 2 weekends. Once he got licensed he rode our town's ambulance during the Senior year every Friday 6pm to 10 pm

In my province you need to be 18 or older to get the EMT license :(
