What are some "preppy" colleges I could get into?

OP, my advice is to take the ACT. You may do much better on it. My daughter did. In the meantime, give some of these not-top-30 but top 40 schools a chance. You might like them much better once you see them. Also take a look at stats for the schools you are interested in–the Common Data Sets of the last year or two, and here on college confidential, you can see what kinds of students are being admitted to schools like BC (which isn’t top 30 either, I believe!!! It’s number 31!)

I just read MidwestDad’s post. OP: Are you a sophomore? I thought you said you are a junior.

On 4-27-15 OP identified as a rising junior

Then this has become an extra confusing thread. The 1900 SAT – unusual for a sophomore to have taken – and 3.7 GPA are highly tentative. I hope the thoughtful responses haven’t been wasted.

Also strange is she/he poopoo-ing schools in the south but on another thread is citing two schools in the south as safeties… ???

ARGH.

and if not lowering your “standards” you must work very quickly to make up for lost time. My daughter has a 2210 on her SATs and I certainly don’t think BC is a given for her. It sounds like your family has set a standard that you are assuming you will meet and that having the money for tuition will make it happen. Please let me know how it works out.BTW, St. Lawrence is where my son is in school and half the students are from prep schools and are very wealthy. Just because you haven’t heard of it doesn’t mean your preppy associates haven’t. It has been rated with the most attractive students as well. does that help? Division I hockey and division III everything else-crew, equestrian sports, golf course right on campus. Lots of activities for the preppy at heart. and speaking of heart, some people find the best places for them they discover on their own. Also, did you say where you are from and what you want to study?

Did I mention they ski every weekend of the winter at Whiteface Mountain, and have more outdoor activities than any other school I know of.And BTW, none of the schools mentioned above have a 75% acceptance rate. What other preppy schools are you thinking of??

If you’re a sophomore-there’s every chance that your SAT may go up naturally at the end of next year. If you can keep up your GPA, you may have a chance at some of the more competitive schools. I still stand by the idea that you need a safety-several safeties.
