Re #35
The previous comment was about non black students avoiding historically black schools, not black students considering them.

I wouldnāt exactly call Hampden-Sydney posh and preppy. My nephew went there. Itās very southernāI guess Iād describe it as southern social, perhapsāa lot of young men who like to hunt, for example. Academics are OK. You do know that itās all male, correct?
Yes I know itās all-male. What about Gettysburg?
@ucbalumnus actually it was about both.
āPeople can go to historically black colleges too, right? Thereās even a list of Top 25 Colleges for Black Students. Also in the news is the first accredited Muslim college.ā
It was comparing the two of them, which is what I was responding to, because I donāt think they are at all comparable.
Kdkhan, Gettysburg is a coeducational college.
I donāt think heās look specifically for all-male schools.
Check out Denison college.
Iām gonna second that thereās a distinction between black people attending HBCUs, and a white person looking for a school low in diversity.
What are your stats so people can suggest accurate schools?
From personal knowledge URichmond and Washington and Lee may fit what youāre looking for.
Roger Williams if youāre into sailing
Claremont McKenna might fit that (but it has diversity)
St Lawrence, Hobart&William Smith, Trinity University
Would High Point be a good fit?(friends of mine call it High Point Country Club)
Here are my stats
GPA- 3.5
SAT
CR- 800
W- 800
M- 500
Total- 2100
Claremont-McKenna has an elite student body, but Iām not sure it has the sort of environment the OP seeks. Sewanee might be perfect, given his obvious disposition toward Language and Humanities. Davidson should be an excellent fit, also.
@Kdkhan If you are are considering schools in the South, Elon offers more of what youāre looking for than High Point doesāand Sewanee offers more than either High Point or Elon. Davidson might by āpreppy,ā but it is also more intellectually rigorous and much harder to get into that the other three schools Iāve mentioned here.
Believe you can bring horse(s) to Skidmore but you should double check
