What are the 17 accelerated B.S./M.D. programs?

Two of my D's friends went to combined B.S./M.D. programs after high school. NEOUCOM says it is one of only 17 accelerated B.S./M.D. programs.

If you assumed that medical school was at least four years in the future and becoming a physician at least eight, NEOUCOM offers a different path to explore!

NEOUCOM has the oldest accelerated, combined degree program in the state of Ohio and one of only 17 accelerated programs in the nation. Students apply to the program during their senior year of high school, and, upon admission, enjoy the benefits of having a reserved seat in medical school when they begin their college program. They earn a combined bachelor of science and doctor of medicine (B.S./M.D.) degree in only six or seven years.

I was curious - what are the other 16 accelerated programs? I thought this was a high school topic because it would be high school students who would be finding and applying to these programs. Thanks!

The University of Central Florida has one of these programs in conjunction with the University of South Florida. The way theirs works is that you commit to attending USF's med school upon your acceptance to UCF, and then you actually start the med school program in what would be your 4th year of undergrad. I have a feeling, though, that UCF is going to shut this arrangement down now that they've got their own, new med school.

lehigh/drexel (7yr?), villanova/drexel (7yr), UMKC/UMKC med school (6yr), Union/Albany (8yr but you get an extra degree), RPI/Albany (7yr)

Be very aware of the benchmarks you must meet to actually move on to the USF Med School. Many do not get through.

there are definitely more than 17. i applied to 8, and i know there are many that i didn't apply to.

Not all of the combined programs are accelerated. Three of the best, Rice/Baylor, Case Western Reserve and Brown PLME are eight year programs with a traditional four-year undergraduate foundation.
