what are the benefits of getting into a good medical school anyway??

Medical schools are not all the same. They teach the same things. But there can be differences in the way they teach, the personality of the students, the quality of global health and research programs, the cost and location of course, the class size, the quality of facilities and affiliated hospitals, the amount of clinical experience, etc. The one that is a perfect fit for you may or may not be a “top” school. That’s why it’s so silly for a HSer to focus on Harvard or Johns Hopkins right now. They have no idea what they want in a med school.
