What are the best practice test books for the sat reading section? I have the Princeton Review 10 Practice Tests book which I have been using to study for the reading section. Are the reading practice tests in Princeton Review very similar to the real SAT? I miss around 18 questions but I want to improve it to as close to a perfect score. Should I just practice from the official college board material or should I also use books from 3rd-party sellers like Princeton Review for practice?
I also have Erica Meltzer’s sat critical reading book, but I am looking for a book that has full length reading section practice tests that are very close to the real sat test.
I’ve been doing some of pr’s reading passages, and Imo, I really don’t like them. In comparison to college board’s, they might be harder, which is good, but that is partly because the passages are different from collegeboard’s. I’d stick to college board.
I strongly suggest reading through erica meltzer (while taking notes) and then doing questions from Khan Academy. Khan has a ton of questions made by the Collegeboard AND they keep on adding new question so you never run out.
@Semere - the Khan material is definitely not written by the CB. No way. It’s pretty good, but also pretty flawed–for example, the R sections have “except” questions and analogy questions, neither of which has appeared on any real post-2016 exam to my knowledge.
@marvin100 - Khan Academy is not made by college board, but it does work in partnership with the College Board to provide the so called “Official SAT Practice”. In my experience, Khan Academy and the 8 practice tests are closest to the real thing.
I know that, @Semere , and I agree they’re “closest” to the actual exams, but they’re not great and aren’t even particularly well made. When I use them with students I have to edit/revise them heavily.
