What are the chances of getting into UTD with GPA 4.035 , ACT score of 22 and class rank of 232/520?

What are the chances of getting into UTD with GPA 4.035 , ACT score of 22 , class rank of 232/520 and volunteering 200 hours with a dentist ( please answer asap )

I would say maybe. A question I have is how hard is your school - you have a GPA of 4.035, which I am assuming is on a 4.0 scale but you are only slightly in the top 50%? Based on UTD’s common data set, the ACT score for the lower 25% of admits is 26. Your score of 22 is significantly lower than that. Being in the top 50% is almost a requirement which you do meet. Is it possible to take the ACT or SAT again to try to increase that number? Apply to some other schools because UTD is only a maybe.

Yes i can take the act on October 27 but i am worried about what score should i prepare to get in to utd ?

The 25%/75% scores are 26/32. The 50% scores are probably 28 or 29 and that is what you should try for.

I just checked the website of UTD but they are showing the date of class of 2020 ?

Yes, that’s the info for the college class of 2020. UTD gets more and more competitive each year so you need to keep that in mind.

You will be compared to other applicants, most will have higher rank and ACT than yours. UTD is not a safety for you, doesn’t mean you have no chance but you should have a back up plan.

Admittance to UTD is stat driven. They prioritize students with high stats - ACT/SAT scores, rank, GPA. They are less concerned about essays and ECs. The overall stats for UTD students are only a point below UT Austin. They are better than A&M and all other state universities. That is why @3scoutsmom says UTD is not a safety school for you but many of the schools in Texas would be. The average ACT score for UT Arlington is 23, so that would be considered more of a safety as well as many of the other UT schools. Try taking the test again and gettting it as high as you can but also look at other schools. There are many good ones that you could well at.

So i am giving the ACT on 27 October. But i fear that UT Dallas does not run out of admissions for computer science if i submit my college application by November ?

No, at this point there have been no limits on admission to CS program and if you get your application in by the end of the year, you will be fine. You also might want to look at UTSA. My understanding is that they have a great cybersecurity program, ranked nationally. These other schools do have good programs.

On which section of act should i focus ?
Eng 18
Maths 25
Science 21
Reading 22

@emperoromukund are you and international student? Is English your native language? If not you may need to take the TOEFL exam. Unless you already have many AP/DE credits you might be better off starting at a community college to get you core requirements out of the way, this is much less expensive and UTD has transfers agreements with many community colleges. Once you have 42 credits and 3.0 college GPA you’d be an auto admit.

No i am not an international student

The reason I ask is that most native US English speakers would usually say they will “take” or “retake” the ACT not “give it.” Teachers “give” exams students “take” them.

You should quit the act altogether. Your science scores are low. You have too many sections to work on to boost the score up significantly. I would suggest taking the sat twice and focus on the the math section first and then the English on the second test. You have until may1 to submit your application. Stop rushing.
