What are the chances of me getting a pole vaulting scholarship senior year?

I am 5’9, 152 lb girl who does cross country, basketball, and track and field along with good grades. I just started pole vaulting this year, my senior year, and I love it. Actually, I am addicted. For just starting I am pretty good and every time I go to offseason practice I improve. I am thinking of doing indoor track along with basketball to have more competition experience and I am pretty confident I can win 1A state in the spring at the rate I’m going(8’6-10 ft). So what are the chances that I can get a scholarship for collegiate level pole vaulting? Is it too late? Could I only walk on? Thanks!

Hi, I’m in cross country and track as well, and what I can tell you about vaulting is that my friends who vault received offers from Harvard and Occidental. However, they all vaulted at least 11 ft. Can you get your pole vault to exceed 10 ft and hit maybe 11? It depends what each school wants, and you haven’t stated any of interest yet. I think if you get 10’6 or so, you could be in for D3 colleges and maybe D2.

The truth is, no one can really chance you because all schools want something different. Why don’t you contact the coaches from schools of interest and see if they’d want you?
